So many of our players clearly dont care. Just collecting a paycheck with zero effort, zero desire, zero belief. The others are just shit.

Personally, I can't see us going back up with the current squad. So, is a clearout needed?

Brewster would be first on the chopping block--clearly hates being here. Time for Fleck, Enda, Norwood and Lundstram to go. Ramsdale is a liability, he'd be gone too. Berge we can cash in on, get 20 million to reinvest. Get shot of Moose, if he cant be arsed to get fit. Robinson can go cos he's wank.

Clearout the shite. Rebuild the team. Keep Baldrick, Egan, Burke and Basham--they at least put some effort in. McBurnie and McGoldrick too. Bring back Freeman.

We need some talent in the middle of the park, plus a Jags replacement/Egan backup and someone to push (and eventually replace) Basham. I think we have enough up top for the Championship if everyone stays, we just need to get people in who can give them the correct service.

We need ball carriers, pace and a bit of trickery.

I can see Berge going and probably Mousset. If we can flog one or two more for a couple of million each, I would hope that'd raise about £30 million? That should be enough to get the right people in.

Moving players on happens all the time at all clubs.

we need trickery, technical players who can drive us forward and be creative/create opportunities, a new didzy but younger - like brooks. A new CM pairing who can pass and far more composed. These need to be players who slot into the 11 and then relegate the current lot to the bench unless they can improve.

I think most of the players would be excellent in the Championship. Baldock-Basham-Egan-JOC-Stevens, would seem a decent back five to me, with good backup from proven Championship players Robinson, Osborne, RND, Bogle, Lowe. I think Brewster, McBurnie, Diddsy, even Sharp are proven top end Championship strikers. Midfield might need a bit of attention. Norwood, three promotions from the Championship, do we really want to chuck that experience away. Flecky will come good again with the fans in the ground. Get shut of Lundstrum and Berge, so yes we could do with a couple more in midfield. I know who I'd like to see back, even if it's only for cameo's off the bench, Duffy still only 35. I think we do need another better goalkeeper than Ramsdale.

Problem we've got is a lot of them signed new contracts on very good terms as reward for last season. Nobody will be willing to match the terms they are now on, so sadly it looks like we are stuck with them.

Not necessarily. It depends on if Bash, Fleck, Stevens etc. can be as good next season as they were last time we were in the Championship. If they can, and we return to playing true Wilderball, we look very strong. We basically just need to be ourselves again.

The youngsters (Ramsdale, Bogle, Lowe, Burke, McBurnie, Brewster) deserve a go in the Championship. I actually think it would do a lot of them some good.

Perhaps some of our old guard have now run their course; Fleck, Norwood & Stevens. But they're now on decent contracts so I'm not sure who will come in for them.

Lundstram will walk on a free & Mousset will be flogged for a small fee as he's heading into the final year of his deal & probably wants to move back to France.

Berge, JOC & Egan will have their agents touting them out all Summer. I suspect that they could all get moves depending on how the former 2 come back from injury.

If we managed to somehow keep Egan & (particularly) JOC then a solid push next season shouldn't be beyond us.
If we lose those two then it will be too tall of an order to rebuild the defence & midfield.

I have a feeling the Prince will only allow us to spend what we bring in. So someone has to go. Shame Berge got the injury really.

Alternatively, he should punch everything including any opponents who come near him - see the Palace goalkeeper yesterday. I don’t think Mousset recovered.

If O’connell is fit for the pre season games and start of the Championship campaign in August then I believe he will be off the Prem by the start of September when the window closes.

First off, before we do anything, we need to review our pay structure, to make sure we can compete with other clubs in a similar league position to us. Then, assuming we do bounce back quickly, we can properly sustain PL status.

Then we need to build the team around those players who deserve being on those types of wages and who are good enough to push for promotion. Tie them down with more money and then get some fresh talent in on the same terms.


Definitely keep (with decent promotion clauses)
Ramsdale, Egan, JOC, Bash, Baldock, Stevens, RND, Bogle, Fleck, Osborn, Didsy, McBurnie, Sharp and Brewster.

The not so sures:
Verrips, Lowe, Norwood, Berge, Burke and Mousset.

Definitely get rid of:
Moore, Jags, Bryan, Rodwell, Robinson, Lowe, Lundstram,

Bring in (could vary depending on what happens with the 'no so sures')
New GK, 2 new CBs (to push the current trio) 3 midfielders (1 defensive, 2 creative), 1 new striker.


So a smallish clearout, and no sense in chucking the baby out with the bathwater. I can still see us kicking off next season with the same back line, apart from maybe RND replacing Stevens, 2 new faces in midfield, and 1 new face upfront.

Agreed, but what do we do if that team gets promoted ? We know they are not good enough and will be almost two years older.

You can't just do a mass clearout, to attempt a complete new team would probably gets us relegated to div 1.
So it will have to be gradual and I see such as Fleck and Norwood becoming back up players.
Moose definitely bomb out, Berge if we can get our money back - which i think we will
Brewster may as well keep or we'll take a massive hit moneywise
Also release any we can - Moore, Bryan etc
Keep JOC and Egan they are under contract and we do not have to sell

As has been pointed out the concern is the new contracts everyone and his dog has been rewarded with.

we couldn’t shift Leon Clark for years even on loan because of his salary. It will be the same for a multitude of these lads next year. Unless we have sensible relegation clauses in, no one is going to want a player who hasn’t performed for 18 months. Which will be 90% of this side.

But it will surprise many how much confidence & momentum will change us if we pick up a few early wins at Championship level.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the likes of Stevens, Fleck and Norwood all moved on. Along with the deadwood like Moore, Foderingham, Jagielka, Rodwell, Bryan etc.

Norwood would probably be useful to have around the squad due to experience though. We could use him similarly to Coutts in 18/19. Same with Sharp too, although I can’t see him being used at all.

The only players I can see possibly attracting interest are Egan and then Berge and Mousset from abroad. If we can convince Berge to stop around for a season, he should be outstanding at that level on his day.

JOC is more likely to stay after a season out. Lundstram obviously doesn’t want to be here so forget about him.

Bogle, Lowe, Robinson, Osborn have all been OK if not outstanding in the Championship before so they’re worth keeping.

Brewster and McBurnie is hopefully a partnership that would become fruitful based on the last time they both played at Championship level. Burke would be a half decent option to have too, despite his lack of goals. This season, McGoldrick has shown that there’s still a player in him too.

They all obviously need good service behind them though. Revamping the midfield is the main priority for me.

We have Luke Freeman to come back, who has been very good in the Championship before. Norrington-Davies will be a first teamer too. Is getting Coulibaly back from Beerschot an option? Certainly been doing well over there based on reports.

Are youngsters such as Hackford and Brunt ready to make the step-up?
