He drifted in and out of the game. All the bits I've seen of him he looks raw and there's bits of good mixed in with bits of play that make you wince.
You can get away with a bit of erraticism more at full back, striker or winger but it makes him a gamble as a starting fixture in central midfield.

But... I think there's a good player in him if he is coachable and we can be patient with him.

Agree…thats how I see it. Think the jury is still out regards Soumare

…he’s not doing it for us yet and it’s a risk to play him because he’s not up to standard
but as you say he does show little sparks of quality and you feel he could before an asset.

It would be so typical if he’s very average almost all season then eventually fully adapts to the English Championship around March/ April time next year
where he’s starts hitting top form dominating games proving himself as a very capable replacement for Vini Souza….just as the season is about to end.

Bizarrely, he actually looked better playing further forward than as a defensive midfielder.

Defensively especially first half he lost almost all his duels.

But 2nd half playing further forward his first instinct was to turn forward and progressed the ball well.

If we turn in to a competent team at some point, this might be an ideal time for him to shine
