The most notable improvement today, and over the last couple of weeks, has been in terms of the player's discipline in playing to a plan. Today, everyone was tracked, marked and players backed each other up. There were very few lapses in concentration and we restricted Coventry to little. We also pressed them and gave them no time on the ball. I thought it would come back to haunt us towards the game with tired legs but our fitness seems better as well (Paul Coutts of all people up field wasting time near the end).
The Coventry substitutions helped us a lot as well. As soon as Joe Cole came on I knew they'd pose little more threat and that Fortune was absolutely useless.
Whilst we created nothing ourselves it's a small step in the right direction.
