Is a DOF just about buying players or is there an implied influence on playing style?

If they just buy players what's the point? Maybe the DOF buys 2 wingers and CW says "wingers? Fuck off knobhead" so that results in swaps with the Baggies or similar, and the DOF then must buy based on the manager's playing ethos right? OK so what IS the point of the DOF because it takes the pressure completely off the manager.

Let's say CW decides the idea of a Duffy-esque Number 10 is the way to get us back up. he says "Get me the new Duffy". The DOF brings in Winston Kodogo from Basutoland Sundowners and he's utter gash. You can't blame the manager cos he ain't the manager's choice. Sack the DOF? Chief Scout? the whole thing's a mess while results continue down the pan.

DOF is a complete pile of bollock soup (OK maybe a bowl) - get the right manager in with his players and the right tactics and that's the end of it.

Absolutely. In any other walk of life the board of an underperforming organisation wouldn't approve the MD spending further without a full business appraisal taking place. If I were the Prince I'd be wanting to see the whites of Wilder's eyes as he explained what has gone wrong this season...

I'm still flabbergasted that we spent the £20m on Brewster but not on one or two additional midfielders. I know we couldn't foresee Norwood ageing 20 years and Lundstram mailing it in, but still only having x4 midfielders for a 38 game season was optimistic at best...

I think most of us thought last season that our back 3, 2 wing backs and 3 centre mids were doing a cracking job, we’d added Berge, Bogle, Ozzy and perhaps Ampadu was seen as a DM (he’s not, he’s a centre half).... so the natural thing to do was get a keeper and striker.

Hindsight is a Wonderful thing but I thought that Brewster or Watkins would’ve been ideal last summer.... Watkins has proved himself

I'm going to put the cat among the pigeons here. What if the prince has some strong backing lined up but part of their conditions is to bring in some really top players.

Would you be opposed to Wilder leaving if it meant we get additional Saudi backing some top players signing for us and we walk the Championship and establish ourselves in premier league regardless who manager is.

If prince does have additional backing lined up, i doubt they would be happy for their in non premier league quality, championship fodder.

What i guess I'm saying, is if it meant opportunity of becoming a a established premier league team with much bigger additional investment. Would you still be adverse to Wilder leaving?

What like Saudi Royal Family backing? So what we are asking ourselves is how many journalists are we prepared to see die to establish ourselves in the PL....morally this is quite a hard decision for me but having given it some thought then absolutely 100% yes let’s sign the fucking contract if it means I can pop down to my local Sports shop and pick up a Mbappe Blades Home and Away Kit...when do we sign the Execution orders?

Think I'm in a minority that thinks McBurnie and Brewster will have a reyt time next season in the Championship!

Sadly, neither is currently PL standard and that's what's hurt us this year...

The frustration is, following lockdown we looked lightweight and immobile in midfield yet did nothing last Summer. It's not really hindsight. We had a preview of what Season Two would look like, yet did nothing much to change the direction of travel...

The question is still there for most of the recent signings. Mousset, McBurnie both showed what they’re capable of last season.... so they have a little bit of credit, as wilder would say.

Brewster has shown some glimpses but looks off the pace and unable to get into games consistently (not always his fault).

the jury’s out still but I think I’d like to see what they can do next season with less pressure on them
