So who's that job gonna go to if rumours are true ?

Didn't Mcabe offer the job to Alcholic bastard Robson when he gave him his cards?

Could Adkins be offered a role 'upstairs'
In similar circumstances ?

Hopefully someone who's not been mentioned, ie not any old player or manager with links to the club.

It needs to be someone with a full understanding of the modern game who has intelligence and awareness of our situation and requirements as a club.

At SUFC he will also have to manage upwards unless the current boardroom is radically altered. I think a problem with this role is that, inevitably, the money man chooses his own sparring partner. Is he really prepared to hear the uncomfortable truths from the best man for the job?
I'd go for someone well respected in the game who had a similar game style to the club ethos. It could be someone the manager has worked with before or a well known figure say Sod, Dalglish, Hoddle.

Sepp Blatter?

What we really need is a proper Chief Exec - someone like that Mansford guy at Barnsley

Why stop at a Director Of Football?

Let's have a Dugout Liason Coordinator too so the manager doesn't have to stand on the touchline and shout to the players.

Or maybe a fucking Midfield Competency Supervisor to prevent all that sideways passing to nowhere.

More layers of bullshit is just what we need.

Someone to rubber stamp the free transfers and make sure the loan signings are of an age that they can remember pebble mill at one

Fuck it, I'll throw my hat into the ring. Sounds easy.

Director of Football: "Play football in that direction lads, then we might score". Sorted.

Joe Royle is the name doing the rounds.

A hard bastard, Souness or similar

I think a director of footy needs to be quiet sort. Happy to be unseen, but act as a link between manager and board. The job isn't about charisma but quietly advising, assisting and ensuring all decisions are in line with a wider strategy.

We've pretended to have a strategy ever since Warnock left, but it's been empty rhetoric.

I think I'm settled. I want a manager who will twat someone if they're shit.

I guess that means that I'd settle for a Director of football who will take out a contract on the manager if the team is shit.

If the club's shit I want a dictator who will wipe out all memory of the players, manager, coaches and their families. The failed DoF will be displayed on a pole on top of the South Stand

If that doesn't work, nothing short of the apocalypse will do.

My God the levels of shit spouted on this forum are getting as bad as the levels of crap on Blades Mad in general  Why anyone would think a club in the third tier of football needs a director of football is beyond me unless the manager is Micky Adams, kin hell if that is what the board think then it just confirms they are incompetent and clueless when it comes to taking the club forwards. Director of Football ............ Jesus Wept.

Graham Fucking Taylor. Do I not like that. The man was a dinosaur in the 80's.

The kind of person we need is Jurgen Klopp, there must be a cheap version out there somewhere.
