Interesting comment from Nigel in OS

"Looking ahead to Saturday's game, Clough added: "Everyone has trained well ahead of Shrewsbury, which means we have options and decisions to make ahead of the weekend. That said, we won't make wholesale changes unless results deteriorate.

"We have watched several DVDs of Shrewsbury and we are continuing to study every team in League One.

"We will pay the opposition the necessary respect but we have to concentrate on ourselves."

His dad is well known to be against dossiers and he thought it is best not to say too much about the opposition to his players as he thought it might make them feel worried about the opposition. It is interesting that Nigel thinks differently to this when it comes to preparing his players for matches

His Dad was a Genius

Nigel has to live in the modern age and has to contend with much better prepared and informed opposition.

I like the statement that he is going to concentrate mostly on what we can do well as opposed to what we have to stop the opposition doing or (Weir) working to a formula. Weir's formula had no chance of being a success as it took no account of the ability of the squad at his disposal.

I think that Clough Junior will be here for a long time to come and if that's the case it will follow that we will see success on the pitch. I'm all for that.

Shrews 0 Blades 2 on Satdi - that's my preddy.

Wish people would stop banging on bout his dad, what his dad did bears no relevnce to what our manager does

My dad wears flyaway bellbottoms and shoulder length lapels and a mullet on his wedding photos doesnt mean I walk round looking like a bay city' roller

Ok then!

As Kenilworth pointed out its a different game now. Brian Clough was a world class manager at the top of his profession and he had different challenges to deal with compared to the modern day manager.

Nigel Clough is managing at a time when fitness levels and attention to small technical details are far more prevalent. In terms of achievement people will always compare him to his Dad but that's unfair. No one could do in the modern game what Clough Snr did with Derby and Forest back then. That doesn't however devalue what he did which is the stuff of footballing legend.

Absolutely, and well worth 'banging on about'! Good Lord, we spend a great deal of time and effort (far too much) talking about former United managers. I think we can spare the incomparable Brian Clough a minute or too, given our manager is his son!

Yes we can talk about the legend of Brian Clough but as you said he is incomparable ,which is what PS is saying ,not fair to compare him.
