How can we be quoted 20 million for McBurnie yet Everton can pick up an England player in Delph for 8 million. I know you have to pay more for a striker and Delph will be on big money but the difference in these prices is staggering.
Well done Everton you've got a real bargain there.

I like Delph (not a popular opinion on this forum I suspect!) but he's 29, a utility player, was in the last year of his contract, and had asked to leave. I think the fee starts at 8.5 million but will have plenty of add-ons.

The strikers we're looking at are under contract, young, and could clearly mean the difference between relegation or staying up. That's just the market.

Think it’s because PL teams are flush with money, so 10 million is a bit of loose change.

Championship clubs know this and although they are probably desperate to sell their best players for 10 million or so
They are also pretty confident that they can squeeze out another 5 million or so.
So everyone ends up playing this game of bluff and counter bluff.

And Delph is a current England squad player, shouldn't be in my opinion but nevertheless it does seem a good price, probably on 200k a week!

Well Man City obviously didn’t want Delph, whereas Swansea want to keep McBurnie. Swansea also don’t need the money now this season after the sale of James and a further parachute payment.

City have sold him for a relatively small fee to get him off the books as his future with them is not in the 24 man squad, basically to create space. Still a good deal I agree but it’s comparing totally polar opposite clubs.

It’s for McBurnie to put in a transfer request now and try and force the deal. We may have to go to £17.5m, otherwise I doubt it’ll go much further because Swansea will stand firm (because they can) and settle for a lesser fee (£10m) for him next year, if they don’t go up.

I've seen Swansea fans talking about them having to still fill a 20 million shortfall due to ludicrous premier league contracts. If so, Mcburnie's going somewhere.

I don’t know their situation, so if that’s correct then the public rejection is to instigate a bidding war or a show to the fans. To be fair, I’ve had a quick google and they don’t see to be active in the transfer market, despite the James sale, so hopefully they still need funds.

He went for £17m ? Think the same price would get McBurnie ? I’d not want to go much higher to be honest.

It's how much you're willing to pay and how much the selling club value him.

I would imagine eye watering wages has a bit to do with it.

Think the initial fee is high favouring the selling club for “potential” whereas proven names go for less but mega wages.
