What is wrong with talking about how Diego, Evans, Maguire, Jagielka, DCL, Adams, McDonald, Blackman, Murphy, Walker, Naughton, Lowton, Quinn etc. are getting on at their respective clubs?

Some of those players have gone on to have big Premier League careers.

Another one is Diego.

Isn't there something that's says that a club who had a player come through their ranks are due a tiny tiny bit of something from future transfers if the player goes on to make it?

Sure I read somewhere that there's a kid that was at the pig academy but can't to on to sign for someone as it would mean the new club having to pay pigs some set money/have tribunal decide fee despite not being there anymore and was basically a freebie. Can't sign for a club like Stockbridge or Hallam because they won't/can't pay money to get him.

I always thought that something like this was introduced to protect smaller clubs against the big clubs (I.e Man U having a word in an up and coming kids shell, saying we will sign you as soon as your contract is up - in order to save themselves paying daft money)
I seem to think the lad was about 14 year old the Pigs were not playing him but still would not release him so he could play elsewhere if I remember right. They were being bastards with the young un and basically freezing him out of the game.

I thought that the club who had developed the player was only due a fee if they had offered the player a contract, like with Lavery and Wednesday.

Fair enough. Makes sense to be fair. Must have confused my thinking with that.

Definitely not an expert on this, but my interpretation of the current system is to prevent young players clubs want to keep from being picked up at minimal cost. That's why you have a few clubs making token contract offers despite wanting rid of the player, with clubs picking up the player having to provide a fee to do so.

If we agree to terminate a contract (as we did with De Girolamo) then we were happy to allow him to leave. We were due no compensation fee from Bristol City, and have no right to insist we get any portion of any future transfer. If any conpendation rules still applied with De Girolamo we'd have known the instant he signed with Bristol City, as there would have been a fee involved. As there wasn't, we can assume he was a completely free agent.

That's seems more like it!
Misinterpreted/making my own rules up!!

That's the one. Couldn't remember the finer details.
If ever there was a life lesson.......don't ever fucking sign for the pigs!

I think another life lesson is don't sign contracts you haven't read or don't understand.

Good luck to the kid.

The instructions from fellow fans on social media to ‘move on’ always amuses me. It’s a forum to talk about all things Sheffield United. I don’t see the issue in talking about ex players and how they’re getting on. Fans still talk about TC, Hockey, Woodward etc. to this day. What is wrong with talking about how Diego, Evans, Maguire, Jagielka, DCL, Adams, McDonald, Blackman, Murphy, Walker, Naughton, Lowton, Quinn etc. are getting on at their respective clubs?

I agree . But I'd also add that when discussions about former players are used as thinly veiled sticks to beat the club with , it's incredibly tedious . And that works both ways imo

Well done Diego for the hat trick last night, lot on here would like nothing better than for you to see out your footballing days at Matlock Town, Jeez. Whatever you did at the lane, personalised number plates, baseball cap back to front, etc, puts you right up there with the likes of Ched (before the appeal), Marlon King etc.

Here are the goals if anyone is interested, Diego's 2nd is pretty good and shows the glimpses of what people saw in him over the years.

Looks he's taken a step foward, he's in the frame for Bristol City's first team
