But we should have won in the end.

Bloody refs!

Although why he took Tonge off after his best game all season I'll never know.

Who's looking forward to Tuesday?

Please tell me that you are kidding, i thought that it was his worst game of the season and i was not alone.

Agree with everything else that you said; the goal looked good but we didn't deserve to win so i can't complain too much about that.

Crap performance, very frustrating saturday yet again and I'm not looking forward to Tuesday at all.

They were dire, awful, it was possibly the most boring performance I can remember and the sooner that idiot goes the better. Looking forward to Tuesday, like a visit to the dentist.

What's frustrating is that at times (first-half inparticular) we played some good football but once again didn't create enough chances which have let us down...

I agree we didn't deserve a win as we were poor. But that was a goal and if not, then we should have had a penalty.

I really believe it was his best performance of this season.

He actually tried to go forward at times.

Although compared to how he has been playing anything would be better.

Not saying he was great though......but whether he deserved to be taken off for Quinn is another matter.

:p

Take a lay down my friend.........

:o:o:o

I too agree that Tonge played better than he has done this season but he still shouldn't be anywhere near the first team in my opinion - he just not good enough

Another boring game and shocking, passionless performance and i' starting to wonder if i can be arsed to go to game. The players didn't realy seem arsed about playing so why should i be arsed to turn up and support at every game, every week. Today there was no movement, no width, no real quality and no tempo. Why Tonge stayed on the pitch for so long was beyond me, although Quinn didn't do anything special when he came on either. Im also puzzled at how Robson seems to think that Webber is good enough for us, especially when we had Stead and even sharp ont bench. also it was a clear goal, no foul and if it realy was a foul, then we should have had a penalty a minute later for the same offence.

Positive: We play defecns as a team, we make a mistake and someons covers.
Negative: We have no width.
Positive: Three attacking players in a 4-3-3 - cause we don't have the midfield talent
Next step: Four attacking players - Webber BT Shelton Stead - and leave Mont and Armstrong in CM to support the defence - that's 4-4-2 when defending and 4-2-4 when going forward. We have to start scoring again.

All spot on - u can blame refs etc for 2 decisions in last 5 mins but what about the other 80 odd mins when we didnt perform - simply not good enough - if we want to go up we need to be beating teams like Burnley at home end of

I'm totally bemused with the negative comments on Tonge, it was far and away his best performance this season. Wouldn't say he played well, but he was far far better than he has been all season. Overall, the only positives were that we looked fairly solid and I did think at times we played some good stuff (not for long enough though and not enough end product).

It was either a definate goal or a definate penalty, the ref (despite their usual conduct) the ref couldn't make both the decisions without one of them being blatently wrong. I think if it had counted, it would have done a massive amount for the players confidence and allowed us to kick on.... As it happened its just a continuation of the story so far.

i like how its never different from

Win=played great}

Draw=played shit

Lose=completely aweful why bother

And thats all i get from 'Blades' today we didnt win...but we didnt play shit neither, we got quite a few shots in (10 on target) and anyone should know burnley are a strong defensive team...personaly i was expectin a win...but cos we didnt win doesnt mean we played shit...jesus, if you wanna see a team win week in week out...go watch arsenal..or man u

If we want to be going up into the Premiership we really need to be beating teams like Burnley at home to be honest

If we want to be going up, we want to be beating the majority (preferably all) of this league. Unfortunately this rarely happens :(, especially when you've just been relegated. Burnley aren't a bad side, definately improved in recent years, but we should be better.

We were poor today, i dare say that if Beaties goal would have stood there would still be the deluge of disgruntled fans talking about papering over the cracks.

Moaning about fickle fans is like pissing into the wind, this is football my friend. If you don't like it; perhaps it is you who should reconsider your support.

Got to take issue with you here Foxy. Burnley were a poor side, and as we all know, a squad with the talent we have should be tanning the arses of the likes of these at home.

Apart from that, we were insipid, uninspired, and Shelton and Bennett apart, pathetic. Too low on confidence for words (though I will say Tonge did try, but didn't really cut it for me), players out of position, no shape, and seemingly no tactics at all.

The saving grace was the back four in the first half, as I thought that Bennett had things sorted out. Thank God(TM) we had him second half or we could have been three down by the 55th minute.

What the hell his substitutions were about befuddled me. 0-0 to a shit side at home, 65 minutes in, and he takes off an attacking winger and our only possible creative midfielder for a cultured chopper and a grafter.

This IS as bad as it was under Heath and action needs to be taken NOW. I said on another thread, we either need to get Sornob to realise we haven't got a squad which can play how he wants them to, and to play to our strengths, or get rid now.

Those utter twats who were saying at the top of Gangway F on their way out "Give him three years." want a serious reality check, and so, so nearly got broken jaws.

ROBSON OUT

Loads near us were slating Shelton big time.

It looks like Blades fans can't agree on anything.

What's new?

:D

No. We did play shit. We played shit against a side that were dreadful. Yes, they packed their defence; yes, they can defend, but we should be beating sides like this, certainly in our own backyard.

It's not that we played shit today, but that we've played shit all season. THREE FUCKING WINS WITH ONE OF THE DIVISION'S TOP SCORERS.

That tells me a lot. We all know we're going to be crap now and again, but this is unacceptable. When we knew we were shit under Heath it was unacceptable and changes were made. We know we're much better than where we are, and changes need to be made again, because believe you and me, we're as bad as we were under Heath.

Couldnt agree more - we are seriously lacking in passion and pride at the moment but we play some good stuff at times but we take 3 steps forward the 6 back and its not good enough

Some near me were slating him too, but that was when he was hanging round the wing, we thought to harass our old friend Unsworth. I really couldn't fault his game today, especially when he came inside more.

Personally Sheltons game today i thought it would be brilliant if we could develop him into a right winger he shows he has pace and a bit of skill too - but when he was in the centre of the box he hasnt enough muscle like Beattie to hold off a challenge and win a header in the box but as a winger it would suit his style of play perfectly

I'm not sure about shelton, he doesn't look like a goal scorer and he seems to lack an end product. His pace and unauthodox skills make him a threat with the ball but i don't see how he fits into the team when we finally get a midfield and play 4-4-2.

A good option from the bench perhaps but with the number of strikers we have, i have to say that i don't see a future for him at the lane.

All that speculation aside, he was as dangerous as anyone today and was one of the few who came out with any credit.

Possibly, but I'd prefer him to have the sort of role that St Deane once had, where he could maraud down the wing, and be in the middle.

Just not at the same time :D.

Would be good if he cud - he needs to build himself up a bit to have a role in the central attack i think

Agreed, but that's the sort of role I think I'd like to see him have. Not just for harking back to the old days, but because it does provide a little bit of variation.

I think at tme our football going forward looked good ... Only problem is - Earlier on in the season it has looked better ... We are without doubt looking better at the back but we seemed to have lost the previous momentum going forward whether that is because training is too focussed on defending we'll never know ... Why however has he brought on 2 midfielders - Both of which offer very little going forward - when there were 2 very capable strikers on the bench in Stead and Sharp - I will never-ever know!

We want our Hulsey back!

I agree we didn't deserve a win as we were poor. But that was a goal and if not, then we should have had a penalty.

Can't complain at the "goal" as Beattie went through his mane.

But the penalty should have been given against Unsowrth, not enough consistency though with referees I'm afraid.

As for the game, I had a ticket but in end decided didn't actually wanna go, and it sounds like I made the right decision.
