I keep seeing posts and threads from time to time by Wendy fans saying we didn't sell out but although it took a bit more time, i'm sure that in the end we did.

We sold out all the normal tickets bar a few singles dotted about IIRC.
We didn’t sell out the club Wembley seats though which is why there was some large gaps round the middle

Doesn’t matter though. Wouldn’t have changed the result and it’s all Wednesday have to to cling on to when their whole clubs on its arse and their stadium is crumbling around them.

I wonder if we were given all gate receipts as is traditional but not contractual for the losers of the play off final .

You only need to realise that Wembley holds 90,000.

So half the stadium is 45,000 tickets and we were officially given 35,532 seats. There was 1 section that didn’t open near the half way line upper tier and wasn’t put on sale.

Overall we sold over 34.5K tickets.

So technically Wednesday fans are correct we didn’t sell all our tickets but as usual they like to deceive, exaggerate etc, so they often show photos of the empty middle tier but forget to mention this wasn’t our section, it was for the neutral fans in Club England.

To be honest think nearly 35K tickets sale for a club with such a terrible Wembley record that has visited Wembley recently is quite impressive. I know a few (good fans too) who didn’t go because they knew we’d lose. So you’re always going to get some big Blades giving our Wembley trips a miss.

Good to know for arguements isn't it. I didn't realise Sunderland bought up the Club Wembley tickets, I just thought none of us bought those expensive ones where the visible space was.

They average over 40K….and probably had a 60K demand for tickets for this match.

So once their 35.5K allocated tickets went….they still had many 1000’s desperate to pay over the odds for a ticket.

So they bought up an extra 9 or 10,000 in the middle tier, these weren’t part of their official allocation though.

If we lived in Sunderland the opportunity to leave Sunderland for a day would guarantee 70,000 plus in fairness. Joking aside, they're a huge club fan wise but as I said before they benefit from a huge population in the tyne and wear area plus Durham which is divided only between two clubs.
