Did he really need to change 3 midfield players?

Basham came off rather early was he injured?

I could understand him taking off Hammond off when he had already been booked.

Bringing Reed on as the final sub?

Take off the midfield and replace it with shit, it was going to happen all day.
Reid and Flynn wow!!!

Incredible subs, even by Adkins' standards. Suicidal making 3 with 15 mins left and the changes themselves were astonishing. Add in the negative approach throughout and the result is another awful display. I cannot believe how many times we have been second best at home this season.

And the eleven who show up every week to play? They apparently blameless as they have been for the past 9 years or so now.

Let's do nothing but stand off and defend but put Baxter and Coutts in the middle in place of the defensive minded midfielders. And while we're at it, let's leave all the pace we have right here on the bench.

Sensible management.

We weren't great today but had a decent chance of holding on for a win. As an Adko fan overall, this really wasn't his finest day today by a long chalk.

Probably not but it always appears the eleven or so wankers we put out escape the majority of the blame. Never understood it. Team game and all that.

Baxter bigger wow
Surprise surprise!
For me Adkins tried Coutts in the middle so Basham out wide was surplus to requirements. That i can understand so why on earth did he then bring off Hammond and Coutts??. You can't blame Jose, Reedy and Flynny. We had Baxter playing the defensive midfield role, Flynn in the centre and Reedy on the wing. A shame we had used all 3 as Adkins might well have taken off the injured Sharp and put Howard up front. Yes we were unadventurous, and slow with little creativity but you don't risk what you have and his decisions cost us 2 points today, not any individual player

Agree and we need to dispatch our chances - ridiculous we got in this position but Adkins did not cover himself in glory.

He is, however, going away to reflect on his substitutions.

Coutts took a heavy knock near the centre circle. He was clearly struggling thereafter. God knows why people didn't see it.

Who noticed Sharp limping with at least ten minutes left yet we still continued to knock long balls down the channels for him to run on to. Plus Done hardly got within ten yards of him, God knows why he didn't get nearer when Sharp was clearly struggling.

Has JCR shagged Adkins' wife? He can exploit situations like today when we go 1-0 up early on and pen them in, giving them something to think about. He's making Clough look adventurous at the minute and that's coming from a big Adkins fan.

He did get his substitutions wrong today by the sound of it but I think it highlights our biggest problem. We don't have the personnel to win games on the front foot. Our best chance is to turn games into a drag.

Sharp,is seriously struggling with a toe injury at present.

God forbid he has to take some time out.

UTB

He took a knock in the penalty area late on, let's hope it isn't another injury. He's played well recently with a toe injury and he's our only real chance if a goal.

I heard Nigel Adkins say he made everything better with his substitutions. We held the 14th place team in the league to a draw and they only slightly battered us in terms of possession and chances. What do you want, blood?

It matters not one jot who we have up front if we set up as we did today.
Good point, mate. I'm hoping we get a couple of players in that will help us change the way we play but that is only a faint hope. Either way, we can't afford for Billy to be injured as we stand, we would fast become a bottom end League One side and the thought of that is an embarrassment to us fans.

Comments on three subs:
  • Bash injured
  • Hammond on a card - and looking vulnerable
  • thinks that, on reflection, Coutts might have been a mistake - just wanted fresh legs

Do I need to go through this again!

I listened to the interview and he seemed happy that he changed the game for the better with the substitutions and change of shape.

With that awful ref its entirely possible he could have sent Hammond off eventually.
