Disagree, apparently he was on £33K in Spain, so we’d need to beat the near £50K a week Southampton offer.

Any Championship agreeing to pay any player £50K is financial mismanagement, probably contravening FFP rules and more points deductions coming our way.

He was never going to take a big pay drop to join us.

And there lies the problem with football. Decent player BBD, but £50k per week is ridiculous

Always amazes me that promoted teams buy players from clubs that have just been relegated and hope to stay up,if we go up please steer clear of Archer,Dias and Mcburnie.

I get what you're saying, but in BBD and Archer they have a guaranteed source of a lot of goals if / when they're relegated.
They're both a decent age so the value will still be in them.

Because players that have played well in the PL wouldn't ever join us, isn't that hard to work out.

Archer was poor at closing down and couldn't be arsed to work. Compare him to O'Hare, how many times as he won the ball back and it's led to goals/chances.

BBD is quality and would be a great addition to our squad, he offers a different style of play to what we already.

All this is dependant on what league we're in of course.

Agree. Not fussed about any return of Archer, but if we went up again and if Saints were relegated (they will) then the return of BBD would be good to see. Quality player, and one we could conceivably attract again.

Not really, he didnt cost Southampton much to buy (£7 million), so obviously BBD's agent will have been able to insist on a big salary.
Overall the package will be cheaper than what we paid for either McBrunie (£20 million) and Brewster (£23 million)

and when we bought McBurnie/ Brewster....it was a far bigger risk because neither had played in the Premier League.

I personally believe Archer is overrated, (one good season) and he does appear to let his head drop, not sure why maybe he's another Billy Big Bollocks so I'm not bothered that he went! (And before some of you start that is just my humble opinion)

Agree . At times I thought it looked like he couldn’t be arsed knowing that Villa had him on a buy back . BBD completely different worked his arse off & got goals off the back of his efforts

Slightly off topic but in a way on topic as BBD first came to our notice when he was at Blackburn and was firing in goals left reyt n centre,then came the age of Szmodics.

And now BLackburn have un earthed another goal machine 4 in 5 currently and he does Tora Tora very well...name Yuki Ohashi.

And now BLackburn have un earthed another goal machine 4 in 5 currently and he does Tora Tora very well...name Yuki Ohashi.

Think that's a tad harsh on BBD he wasn't 100% fit based on not able to play 90 plus minutes. Personally I'd have him back offers something different playing off the left. I wasn't keen when we loaned him i was put back in my box he was quality. Would like to see how he would do at an established Premier League club.

I would take BBD back. He was excellent for us.

Archer is a championship player, a very good one. But right now he’s nowhere near ready for the PL.

One cost us £4m loan and the other was a loan fee we really did mess up big last season.

Be worth keeping in touch with BBD and seeing how he’s settling down there and enjoying it.
Never know, if Saints are struggling which looks likely and want to freshen up in Ian as a last ditch attempt like we did they may try a few big loans and send BBD out on loan
