Alan Nixon tweeted 5 mins ago there is a new club in for Cole and they might just beat us & Milwall to this signing now.

Oh well, this is never simple is it! The Milwall press did say that Milwall are not interested in Cole and on another interview I say today which was from a while back when he signed for Barnsley, Cole said that he wanted to join Barnsley because their interest was persistent and we certain'y have that in our favour!
 
Could Barnsley be the third club, perhaps? More likely to get a starting place, has previous with 'em and they've got new investment.
 
Can't imagine we can compete with Barnsley under our structure.

This will happen, CW makes his targets known with the boards penny pinching offers being leaked and publicised then them with funds nip in and do the business. Bit like cuckoo negotiations, we do the work they get the rewards.

Barnsley have just cancelled a season long loan for a striker they had from Chelsea, so probably on the look out.

Aye on loan. I still think he'd prefer us to Barnsley but he will probably start for them, whereas for us he's likely to come off the bench but that might suit him since he'd be making a step up.

If Brentford have come in I’d suspect they’d be in the box seat as London is a big pull for players.
 
Just missed out on deadline day in August then if he goes to another club now it would be just our luck.

How unfortunate it would be to let a story get in the way of the truth. Unless there is a whoosh I am missing.
 
One rumour on twitter is that Rangers are interested. Can't see him wanting to go there to be honest, they're hardly a good team in a poor level compared to the Championship, bar Celtic.

It's funny how consistently being the top scorer in the SPL only attracts Championship clubs at best.

Bar Celtic the standard has dropped for sure. Still some decent Scottish players though, like Murph when he came down. Problem is adjusting the the Championship is tougher than it was when we were in League One, obviously. I doubt we'll sign many if any from Scotland, Wilder seems to prefer League One, which is fair enough.
