Paul Blomfield isn't the MP for Sheffield Central he stood down at the last election. Abtisam Mohammed is the now the MP for the Central constituency.
Yeh I found out just before I sent it. Artisan has been in touch.

Nothing surprises me with football.

Should it and will it be a problem? No, fans are generally respectful to the cause and it’s an important part of remembrance

But it really just shouldn’t be on Remembrance Day and certainly not at this time, plenty of other days and times to put football games. This shouldn’t be one of the days for me. Having no football that Sunday would raise the significance. It’s more important nowadays with so much conflict and hate

We do indeed have a choice nowadays and football is becoming far less relevant as it tries to dominate our entire year
Nailed it..but sky run the place and hope they go bust..

30 mins later whoop de do

this is sky sports caring more about their schedule than fans. because i would be quite confident this is why were very hesitant to change. because all they care about is their schedule

30 whole minutes, what difference will that make? Particularly given the footfall around the city centre pre-match generally, let alone a derby.

It's a step in the right direction, but what is a step when you need to miles to make a difference.

2 o'clock would have been appropriate and the most sensible but unfortunately the brains in football aren't ones making the decisions.

When we played Watford @ home on Sunday 1st September with a 3pm kick off, Sky also showed 2 Premier League games at 1:30pm & 4pm.

Yep I think police may also have a say. Then again this game is one more neutrals would stick on than a game v Watford

there is a difference Sheff utd v Watford is add on game. but Sheffield derby is 1 of those games like old firm derby in SPL where they banking on get big viewing figures of season. like they'd have a clash with celtic v aberdeen but not celtic v rangers

they want to keep people in front of the tv from 12pm - 7pm. we are just a pawn in their game

Would it not be a better option to just switch grounds for that day?

The pig Sty is no where near the city centre. So far less chance of any disturbing trouble to occur near Barkers Pool.

Then play the reverse fixture at the Lane. It wouldn't be the first time such a thing has happened in football. Or is this too simplistic.

Just a suggestion. Happy to be told differently.

true i don't think ive ever heard of it & i guess the argument would be that home game in march would be giving us an advantage in the promotion race & Wednesday rivals in a relegation battle

Now the time has changed, it will definitely overlap with Forest v Newcastle. It wouldn't have don before unless there was a hefty chunk of stoppage time.

I think the Police and EFL have overruled SKY on this occasion

SYP Wanted the game started as early as possible to reduce risk of trouble (alcohol). Clubs and league wanted to push it back to allow people to go to remembrance services. Sky want it covered.

That's why we are where we are

Not sure it's as much about trouble as it is about people on both sides wanting to attend the service in town and then attend/watch the game. Moving it to Hillsborough makes that even trickier, unfortunately.

Just out of interest that weekend the Friday night fixture on Sky at 8pm is Watford Vs Oxford with Monday 11th November being Barnsley vs Rotherham at 8pm.

We have played the Sheffield Derby before on a Friday night and no reason why Watford Vs Oxford couldn't have been a Sunday afternoon fixture, if anything probably easier for the Oxford fans to get too. Even swapping the SYP dominated Sun & Mon fixtures around would have made sense.

It's a case of 'shutting the door after the horse has bolted'. They should have never arranged the game for that day in the first place and I can't see much (if any) advantage in their solution.

Wasn't the issue with it being remeberance Sunday and with people wishing to attend a service and the match ?
In which case they've done all they can to accommodate, it's not ideal but never was going to be . Think they've listened and given people another 30 mins which is fair enough .
