I think if we are 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go we’ll score another one or two. Their already shite defence will leave huge gaps as they push for an equaliser.

The Pigs are the spozziest team ever. From the Kaye/Layne throwing matches scandal through the Richard’s “bribery “ years, the CoOp write off of 20 million, the deaths at their stadium when no safety certificate and the Chansiri, whoops I sold a stadium in the wrong year saga - amongst others - like other teams getting a point deduction- they will luck out every fucking time no matter what. By rights they should be out of business and the sty a retail park. But they will be there on Sunday to get lucky (or more like kick us off the park) to get a 0-0 win. Fucking hate them.

A lot of people always say this but there's very little evidence to support it.

If you look at the results from the past twenty odd years they're pretty much scattered evenly between United wins, Wednesday wins and draws.

Within that you can find examples of any combination of results.

In my time I'd say the biggest gap in quality I've seen between us when we've been in the same division was probably in 2005-06 when we got promoted.

We won both games that season which doesn't do much for the derby favouring the underdog argument.

A close second to that would be the 2002-03 campaign when we finished 3rd and they got relegated, each team ended up with a win a piece at the end of that season.

Truth is, there isn't really any strong enough historical trend to make any definitive comments on this fixture either way.

It just seems to be whoever plays best best on the day has the strongest chance of winning.

Which you could say about any game.

It all depends on what happens in the Pigs match against Norwich tomorrow. If they lose again then they'll come to the Lane and stick 11 men in the box, something we're no good at breaking down. That'll likely be a 0-0 draw unless we score from a set piece or a wonder goal from distance.

If by any chance we did score early then they can't defend a loss and they could be the first hammering of the season that we've been building up to.

On the flip side we've a lot of young players who haven't played in matches this big with this much significance and importance riding on the result. Nerves could get the better of them.

As with all derbies, who knows really.

Complexly agree buddy. I'm not nervous at all and am even throwing out a 3 nil comfortable win?!

Squads don't even match up in terms of quality and surely sausage rohl isn't capable of motivating them as much as wilder is for us? We have Vin, Arblaster and probably O'hare who will be massively up for this game and fancy shithousing them
