Delusions of grandeur

It's always difficult when the opposition go down to 10 or 9 men. Whilst we all wanted more goals, our inability to put the game to bed doesn't worry me in the slightest. Potentially losing key players is the only concern.

The consensus of opinion is sensible about the recent win; 3 points, 2nd in the league, injuries cause disruption, playing against 9 men can be tricky, etc.

However, reading the reaction of some; I fear for the response when we next drop points and the impact on this embryonic team/squad.

Please remember the pain of the last 6-7 years and the great strides made under CW in a very short time. We are beginning to resemble everything most fans want and deserve, so please a little perspective. United we must stand one and all.
I agree with your sentiments completely.

The way that the game panned out has contributed to some of these unwarranted reactions.

If the game has ended as it did (2-1 win) but the story of the game was that we'd dominated, gone a goal behind against the run of play, then after the two red cards we'd gone and scored our two goals, I suspect people would be talking about how well we did to turn it around...

As it turned out, we won 2-1, claimed the three points and dominated the game against a side that, when you look back on it, offered nothing.

Granted they had nine men for half of it, and yes, we could have banged in three more goals, but I think we should be happy with the result in the end and look forward to a tricky game against Bury on Tuesday.

There really is no point in stressing, that's what Wilder is here for, to assess, analyse, and make the decisions that are more right than wrong. CW will know the why's and how's, so let's invest trust in our manager. Not only is he a good 'un, his appreciation of what we need to move forward has been proved to good and getting better game by game. As was said by the OP, should we lose a game, what would happen? Would it result in a hissy fit by some? Would they adopt their manager-by-proxy position and point out the tactical errors that resulted in this loss? Best to ignore this type of mistaken arrogance, allow CW to put right what went wrong, that's his job and he's proving to be pretty good at it. There's a reason this forum is constantly so full of praise for Wilder (and Knill), we feel like a team with a purpose, at last we're on fire and we're moving forward with the sort of drive that we've not seen for at least a decade or more. Remember this when we lose a game, add some perspective, and remember that we have a manager who has SUFC running through his veins, which is far, far more than can be said for previous incumbents.

Hands up who, at the start of the season, would have taken a much improved team (if not quite promotion material)?? The point being, should we go off the boil, let's not get to terminal melt-down.

Having said that, Up The Blades, Our Time is Now.

Too fucking true it is. I think that come the end of this season we'll all be singing the praises of King Chris UTB
