It's incredible that the ref didn't give a penalty for that assault. I was reminded of a somewhat similar type incident in a game against Millwall
at The Lane in 1978. The ball had been cleared after a United attack at the Kop end when one of their defenders went across the area and violently pushed one of the United forwards (Stainrod, I think). Unfortunately, for him, the ref who was near the half-way line, was looking back and saw this. He immediately ran back to the area and awarded United a penalty from which Woody scored. United won 5-2. Anybody else remember that?
Was that the season we got spanked by Arsenal , Bolton , and someone else by 5 for a couple of weeks in a row .
The joke was what time do United kick off , every 15 minutes , right rib tickler that one .

Don't think it was that game mate was at both games , think It was Luton ? Someone from darn sath though .
Where's Darren when you need him .
Revolution has answered that. Darren is just a score, scorers and dates statto but there are some forum members who can remember incidents better than Darren!:)

It was an off the ball incident and should have been a yellow at most.
maybe a yellow but a 100% penalty.that was violent conduct in the extreme if players are going to get away with that we
might as well be playing rugby .The powers that be should review the incident as to get away with that brings the game into
disripute ,ive seen some amazing things on a football pitch but thats as bad as it gets and to cap it all he lives in sheffield
and is a piggies fan i call on the football league to take action against such a diobolical act

So it denied a goal?

It doesn't matter whether it denied a goal or not ...... it was foul play, seriously dangerous in that if he had landed on his neck it would have snapped like a twig. it was in the penalty area and therefore a penalty and a red card for serious / dangerous foul play.

If that had happened to a Liverpool / Chelsea / Man U / Arsenal player, the above would have been the outcome. Even Sky & FL Show said nailed on pen and they like us about as much as typhoid.
UTB & FTP

again take the lead and lack the killer instinct , , again scoring on the break to seal it , and finish comfortable , but have to get the belief going that we are 1-0 up because we are better
