Bearing in mind our last meetings with the Spireites in this division and the current relative league positions of both teams - Does anyone else get an awful feeling that despite their abysmal current form and our current 'lofty' position in comparison, we could be heading for a fall here?

I've just had that feeling all week that, despite the euphoria of Beattie's return, we could get overturned by a team desperate to get a few more points on the board. All the form pointers are in our favour, but I think of the Leeds home game last season, where we were definite second favourites and it was a case of 'I'll take defeat with honour here' rather than the pasting we all thought we were going to get. Then, what do you know! we piss all over them and make them look ordinary with a display that belied most of our form in that awful season.
I keep having hot sweats that this could be the case tomorrow and Chesterfield could have a one off day against their local and despised rivals...

Forgive me for the negativity, it's my self protection towards acute disappointment mode. I really hope I can walk back down Whittington Moor tomorrow around 3pm, happy in the knowledge we've emphasised our superiority over the bent spire buggers and come away with a healthy 3 points and a resounding away victory..... it's just that I can't help feeling .....

When I first started watching United in 1988, I remember people saying "oh don't expect any points off Chesterfield".

"Rubbish", I thought in my childish naivety. Lesson learned.

ive watched the Blades for over 35 years and to my knowledge, chesterfield are definately one of our bogey teams but saying that, all runs good or bad have to end and i get the feeling tomorrow might just be a day we show we ARE better than the sheep shaggers o'er the border.

COYRAWW!!!

Matches I watched between Chesterfield v Blades (league unless stated)

Jan 1971 (Friendly)Chesterfield 1 Blades 0. Tom Fenoughty scored in the 1st min. Hodgy's last ever 1st team match

April 1980 Blades 0 Chesterfield 2. Geoff Salmons and Ernie Moss the scorers

Nov 1980 Chesterfield 1 Blades 0, Phil Bonnyman scored

Dec1980 (FA Cup replay) Chesterfield 1 Blades 0.

Dec 1982. Chesterfield 3 Blades 1. Danny Wilson scored Chesterfield 2nd goal with a superb free kick

Jan 1989. Blades 1 Chesterfield 3. Bloomer and Morris(2) for them, Agana scoring for us when we were 2 down.

March 1989. Chesterfield 2 Blades 1. Two goals by Dave Waller with Ian Bryson scoring the equaliser despite missing an absolute sitter a minute earlier. was at London for a long weekend but returned to Chesterfield for the day by train. a waste of journey!

Aug 2004 (friendly) Chesterfield 0 Blades 1 (Morgan). Jinx broken!

Aug 2007 (League Cup) Blades 3 Chesterfield 1. For a competitive game the jinx is broken

Hopefully tomorrow my jinx will be broken, this time for a league match!

Yes, tomorrow promises to be 'interesting'! Remember a couple of seasons ago? Derby had gone God knows how many games without a win...and guess who ended that little run? Simply no excuses for failure tomorrow.

Similarly, Orient have gone 10 games without defeat. Think they'll keep that run going at Hillsborough tomorrow? Me neither.

last time i saw us playing chessy we battered them 5-1 with our reserves

Chesterfield are definitely one of our bogey teams, like most of us I have seen some shocking performances by the Blades against them. The past shouldn't matter, but somehow it seems to. On the other hand we didn't lose at Scunny this year. If we approach this in a proper professional manner then we should win games like this....if Charlton were going to Chesterfield tomorrow most of us would be expecting them to get an easy 2 or 3 goal victory...I don't think we are as good as Charlton, but based on current league positions its the sort of game we should be winning. Personally I would be over the moon if we could scrape a 1-0.

I dont think it will be a walkover, but I think there is something wrong if we dont win there.

Viv Busby blasting a shot over us onto the street outside is my abiding memory.

We are the only team that always loose play offs and have around 98 bogey teams to play against we have an Inferiority complex my god please help us.

its lose not fucking loose ,how hard is that ?the two words have completely different meanings

To be fair ,as a Blade 'lose' should roll off the keyboard. And when learning English surely 'lose' is more frequently taught than bogey.

its lose not fucking loose ,how hard is that ?the two words have completely different meanings

It's "It's", not fucking "its", with a capital "I" as it's the start of a sentence. The puntuation mark comes straight after the end of the word, then the space. Each sentence should start with a capital letter, and there should have been a full stop at the end of your second sentence.

How hard is that?

It's rather difficult to berate a chap for letting a dog lick his face when you yourself are up to the maker's nameplate in Babe's mum..........

Looks like you need a forking university degree to write in this forum anybody making a spelling mistake or a grammatical error will be mobbed by idiots with strange dialects and speaking the queens (South Yorkshire English) thars reet lad.

in my defence ,i was pissed ,ive just split up with my bird and im a bit of a dickhead
sorry bladesfan i normally wouldnt pass comment on things like that

please accept my grovelling apology

>How hard is that?

Today's win clinches my hat trick of breaking jinxes in our matches against Chesterfield (the last three wins were friendly, cup and then league matches!)
