Certainly not a freak goal. Saunders new exactly what he was doing and clearly had a good grasp of the laws of the game.

I was stood more or less behind him on the terrace when he did it and it took me a couple of seconds to understand what he had done.

Funny to think how close we must have been stood to each other, all those years ago.

I always stood between two specific crush barriers and five steps from the back. I always wondered if this was OCD until I looked round and saw the same people taking up the same positions week in week out.

I always had a favourite spot near the front on the Kop and it was always the same people who stood around me every match. I used to see a couple of them at away games. UTB

To this day I can't believe how clever Saunders was, talk about presence of mind. Great finish as well.

Well he was a great player. I remember seeing him play against us for Liverpool at the Lane and he was the best player on the pitch by far.

We only saw the tail end of his career but he was a big player for us at the time.
