Hope United take a step bs k if they do negotiate for Hammond.

He's been hit and miss in league one.

Us aside, who is going to offer him anyway near what he'll want?

No Championship team will bother and who else in league one will take him on terms he sees competitive?

I think United are in a much stronger position than him, though his agent will try to sell hin as otherwise.

But Champers, why should we be even looking at a player who is quite clearly not the answer. Doesn't matter how cheap we can get him, there are far better players out there who we should be targeting.

United will try to get him on sensible wages, but only if everything hasn't already been agreed. Which can't be ruled out unfortunately.

Adkins is the manager,if he feels Hammond is the man for the anchor
role,that's fine.He has played that roll at both Soton and Leicester and although not been great so far he is
showing good signs for next season,as I say if Adkins wants him.
He's going to be. the manager so we have to get behind him.All for one and one for all.

Yes he had a good game today.

It shouldn't be beyond us to get a more athletic version of him though.

Agreed ...... he had a good game today, but his cost in terms of wages is not sustainable at this level when we have an entire squad to rebuild.

If NA can persuade him to play for £5k a week next year with the promise of some coaching input, then fine. But we need to strip out another 10 / 12 players and get 8 / 9 better ones in so we can't afford Hammonds wages IMHO.

agree with PeteBlade on this, it sounds like you were at a different game to me. We weren't as successful at closing them down as Walsall cos they were a much better team than Walsall, but I wouldn't say they were comfortable - we battered them for the most of it, esp. second half.

You're right about too little too late but I reckon if (and it's a big if) we play like these last two games next season, with a few additions (and hopefully sign Baptiste) we'll be top 6 at least.

But we were still incapable of scoring and I'm not convinced at all by the Adams / Sharp pairing upfront. I still think that we need a big, strong, fast CF to play upfront with Sharp, among multiple other replacements in the summer.

One thing is clear. Sharp enjoys playing alongside Adams.

And our scoring record has categorically not been the problem this season !
