Great work YorkBlade, you and Nick are producing some absolutely excellent blades content at the moment. I've followed Nick's stuff for a while, and always enjoyed it, but it's definitely taken a big step forward in quality and professionalism since you got involved. Having a media professional on board, is a big help.

I think we're really lucky as fans with the content that people like yourselves, Beans, Roygbiv and countless others are producing at the moment.

Really enjoyed this one though, completely changed my mind on Hammond. Like you said, it's often easy to forget that they're just humans too. I certainly think there's parallels between him and some of the current players. You can see Norwood is going through exactly what Hammond described.

Thanks that is really kind.

NEW YOUTUBE PODCAST: DEAN HAMMOND 'The Truth'

We discuss:

  • Why the 2015/16 squad weren't successful
  • Why he underperformed
  • The contract / Chris Wilder
  • Nigel Adkins
  • The Blades fans

Watch:

Enjoyed that, DH came across well

Bit of a Bump this, but just listen to this one as a newly released Podcast and really enjoyed it. Incredibly pertinent IMO. At one point DH talked about the mental fatigue and stress of being on a bad run. The way, as players, they attempted to correct their course - Increased training sessions*, new forms of training, psychological stuff, diet, all of which came to nothing as they got in the way of what made the player tick in the first place. I know it's probably not going to happen, but I think the current squad would be well served if they had a listen to this. DH sounds like he's a player from the current crop speaking from the future.

Anyway, again, top stuff YorkBlade and Nick. Great to be able to get these interviews as audio versions for on the go.

*I've wondered on several occasions in the last 18 months if the lads have been over trained, in an attempt to 'play your way out of bad form'. I suspect that our demise is evidence that maybe a player can but an entire team can't.

Thanks Ron, agree with everything you say. This episode is indeed insightful.

If anyone would like to listen to this as audio rather than watch the video just search 'Sheff United Way' on your preferred podcast provider. Pesch coming tomorrow.

He just struggled to admit his career was over by the time he came to us. I think he thought if he changed the way he trained and ate etc it would prolong his career.

He had played a lot of football by the time he came to us but even at 32-33 years old he would have thought he had a year or two left in him.

Today is Dean's birthday so in case you missed this former Sheffield United midfielder Dean Hammond interview, you can watch or listen to our chat with Dean to find out the truth behind his turbulent time at Bramall Lane
