That's silly BTL. You've included Basham in your number.
LOLOLOLOL.
the current championship he said Basham wasnt good enough for
hes not playing in that

and point out
even under previous managers when weve played championship teams in the past 3 seasons in the cup weve beaten them all

You're absolutely right.
It's me that's really silly. LOL.

couldnt disagree more
Moore good enough
Sharp , proven
Fleck good enough
Duffy good enough
in fact all the current first eleven could hack it

Watch a lot of the championship and theres at least 50 per cent of players there we wouldnt bring here to improve us
If huddersfield barnsley and wednesday coped im fucking sure we will
Id gladly face most teams up there with what we have , they shouldnt frighten us
Compelling argument

Just won't accept it will you, every other post your on Bashams back. There's more and more of us now accept Basham is a key player but you keep banging on with the same boring comments, give it a rest your getting embarrassing now.

Nobody's making you read 'em. He'll be shown up royally IF promotion is acheived, and I've got a good record of being right so far...

We are NOW a good team, the change of personnel in a few months is nothing short of miraculous , but 2 things are the key drivers for our success/
Players who had been marginalised , played out of position and in bad formations , like Coutts and Scougall are playing to their potential aided by astute signings , all playing in their preferred positions . And second we have signed the best keeper here since Kelly or Tracey , maybe even better, The sort of game winner Paddy Kenny was at his prime.
Always considered we should make the play offs with our squads as we do have greater buying power than most down here , but this season its far and away an enormous leap forward in quality
aided by commitment and we look fitter than most, making us stronger in every department which is why Im so confident of our ability to succeed this season

He plays in two positions and excels at neither of them. Every game he makes serious errors, two in the opening 10 minutes against Northampton being the most recent. He's weak as piss and his challenges don't even result in coming away with the ball half the time.

I'd like to know what sort of "leader" allows himself to be bullied so easily as well? This happened for the whole of the Rochdale match against the shortest player on the pitch and there have been numerous examples since.
He slows down any forward momentum when he's on the ball, opting instead for backward tippy-tap shite instead and any successful passes from him are a 50/50 shot at best.

But no, he's one of the protected species at Bramall Lane for whom any criticism is off-limits.

Meanwhile it's perfectly acceptable to hammer Billy Sharp and Stefan Scougall into the ground for any old reason......
Fucking love you for this. Basham is useful but in my opinion is neither a first-choice midfielder or defender for a team looking to be automatically-promoted from the third tier. I think that says everything about his ability to consistently deliver at a higher level.

When we were in the Championship, if we'd have signed Chris Basham we would have been collectively disappointed.

But he's a trier so that's good enough

Exactly this ^^

Surviving and consolidating in the Championship (if we do get there) will require a far stronger squad. People seriously underestimate the quality of that division now.
Just because some players are familiar to us now doesn't mean they'll make the grade in a higher division, and I include better players than Basham in that catagory too.

We're going to need to raise the bar much higher.

Ah the shit analogy hour with BTL. Been a while.....
well name me a defender whos never made a mistake
with your one of your shit generalisations

like CW wont make changes , well dah
hes done major surgery here already ,he will doubtless cut the cloth as required in the championship
its insulting to say he wont

I'm talking about someone who consistantly fucks up in this division and you "counter" it with an example of one mistake made in the division above as some sort of reason why Basham will be great in that division?

You don't really do basic logic do you?

Or the quote function it would seem....

BTL's Law - defined as a phenomenon which asserts that the longer a discussion with BTL takes hold, the probability that a comparison to one or more teams (favourites include Man Utd, Chelsea and Barcelona) increases.

Might have read it wrong I thought you meant "long term" meant when we reached the championship we'd get rid

The stewards who sit on the lower tier every game when no fans are on there...bit of a waste

Good point.

There's a couple of ballboys who aren't well positioned in front of the South Stand too. Get rid.I accept some might say they are 'young' or should be given 'another chance' but the cruel Master of Deadwood accepts no excuses.

Actually come to think of it, there's one or two on here who are a bit surplus to requirements. I'm not always the sharpest knife in the block but there are plenty others who mumble, dribble and waffle more than me.

Maybe we should have a clear out on here? The obvious fair and reasonable criteria for culling are:

-Anyone who hasn't posted for 12 months.
-Anyone who asks 'Where has the semi final/ play off/ Kyles/ McGuire/ Murphy money gone?'
-Anyone who still thinks Weir shouldn't have be sacked
-Anyone called Barney or Pinchy

Pretty much covers it.

Anyone think I've missed anything?

I know Tyler gets a few backs up, but surely no-one can disagree with the above?

There are some pretty shitty threads on here from Sept/Oct having a right go at Billy and I hope those posters are proud of themselves.
He was the difference last year from us being in a relegation battle and this year he has excelled, as a leader by example.

He gets goals.

He doesn't always have a 'good game' and he can be a greedy bugger, but that is what instinctive strikers do. He actually works far harder than Keith Edwards (the best other natural goalscorer I have seen at BDTBL), but somehow that isn't good enough for some.

We are close to a belting squad with no immediate weakeness. All it needs to do is gain promotion.
Who is or isn't good enough IF we get promoted is the major thread topic at full time after game 46.
In the meantime our manager is quietly filling any gaps to give us the best possible chance of seeing off every motherfucker in this syph ridden league.
Go Wilder.

You sound like you have developed a completely different viewpoint after starting threads called "Not Good Enough" after both the Oldham and Northampton games.

Personally I didn't think we played any better or worse against Bury but it obviously has had a huge effect on thee

You are wrong on all counts Holmes. But thanks for obviously realising the importance of my contributions that you should bother to make this effort.

My point is based on the excellent recruitment so far this window to address the issues I highlighted as weaknesses that may derail our purpose this season.
Keep following my posts. You won't be far off truth, reality and damn good stuff.
Happy New Year.

Thankyou for your kind response.

Did you know that I actually regard you as the seventh poster on this forum?

Peace X

I have to say I was unaware of that "accolade"?
So without inviting some kind of abuse I'll simply thank you and take that as a compliment.
Peace indeed. x

Mrs Doyle: Well, it's not before time Father. I always thought you were one of the best priests in the country.
Father Ted: Thank you very much Mrs Doyle. One of the best? Or maybe the best? Hahaha, go on Mrs Doyle! Honestly, would you say I'm the best priest in the country at the moment?
Mrs Doyle: Well...
Father Ted: If you don't think I'm the best priest in the country, just say so. I honestly won't mind!
Mrs Doyle: I'd say you might be... the second best!
[Contrary to his previous statement, Father Ted looks very disappointed]
Mrs Doyle: I mean --
Father Ted: No, it's alright! I'm not the best priest in the country, I'm only the second best. There's somebody better than me, apparently.
Mrs Doyle: Well, Father, I was just thinking of those priests who work in very poor areas.
Father Ted: Oh yeah, of course, those lads! Father Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the likes!
Mrs Doyle: Well, I think Archbishop Tutu is a Protestant man!
[Both laugh]
Father Ted: Hahaha, oh right! Oh great! So a Protestant is better than me.
[Mrs Doyle tries to console Ted]
Father Ted: No, no no, there's no need to continue this, I'm not the best, I'm just the second best. Apparently the Golden Cleric is a runner-up prize. Well, I'm so sorry! Obviously I'm just an idiot! Obviously I can't even say Mass properly!
Mrs Doyle: Father, I was just --
Father Ted: NO! Don't take it back! THAT'S what you said! You said I wasn't the best priest in the country! That's fine! I just wanted to know where I stand. Obviously now I'm just going to have to jack it in.
Mrs Doyle: WHAT?!
Father Ted: I'm leaving the priesthood!
Mrs Doyle: BUT FATHER!
Father Ted
: NO! I am going to write a letter to Bishop Brennan asking for early retirement and maybe when I go, you can ask the other priest; "Father Peter Perfect, the Perfect Priest" to come here and you can work for him since he's obviously such a great priest!

Lydon Lydon Where's your hair?
Lydon Where's your hair?

I'm struggling to think of any. Last season we had a huge list of players we'd have happily carried to another club to get rid but I can't think of one I'm desperate to see leave.
Clarke hasn't set the world on fire and I wouldn't be bothered if CW moved him on to bring another striker in but nor would I care if he stays and remains as an impact sub/cover for Sharp.
Long is out of form but arguably as good a third choice keeper as you'll find in L1.
Hussey, not done much and, like Clarke, I'm not really bothered if he stays or goes.

It's a big transformation in quite a short period of time.
Long has done a great job for the Under 23s particularly in supporting our young back line. He has responded well but he should be playing at a higher level. Some of the players mentioned can help with our youth development. Kennedy was a fine example last year at Under 21s
