I think B+ is a bit generous for the fans; there's been a lot more jeering and booing than you make out (quickly shifting to "We love United" if we snatch a lucky point or three), but I do agree that, on the whole, they've been strangely patient. Maybe everyone has reached the same level of resignation.

The rest is mostly spot on, though I think you're a bit harsh on a few, especially Lowton who I think deserves almost a full mark higher. And I'd say Yeates needs at least a full mark lower. And some dead ball lessons.

Lowton/Yeates

Lowton was hardly in the team the first half of the season and had a few poor games too. If he had played like he did in the final 15 or so games in the first half of the season he would have rated higher I feel.

A for Yeates he did next to nothing after Adams took over but was maybe one of our best players under Speed and for a spell of 4-5 games he was our man of the match (Hull, Leciester away, Burnley home etc). Still maddeningly frustrating (=not good enough) though

Not being in the team and having a couple of bad games dropped Lowton's mark, yet Reid got a higher grade? Good consistency. Also, Lowton had 2-3 bad games, and was otherwise excellent and a major influence over his 30-odd appearances. Yeates was almost the exact opposite, has half the commitment, and showed less quality, whether he has it or not. And to be honest, I'm not sure he does.

As I say, otherwise spot on, but I think a lot of people have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to Yeates. If one of the scapegoats had been as consistently poor, the booing and muttering would have started much earlier than it did.

As I said at start I could only judge players on games they played/time they were at the club. Thus Reid was not here for long he did really well and was maybe the most influential player we had in the games he played.

Lowton had more than 2-3 bad games and was quite ordinary for all the games he did play in the first half of the season being no beter than the rest but he came on really well in the second half and was excellent in the run in. Did not help him being messed about so much in terms of positions.

Yeates was so up and down but was taken out of the team a lot (rightly). Many others were bad at different spells of the seasons (Quinn early season, Doyle, Collins later season and Cresswell all season till he got injured) but seemed to remain regulars pretty much. Yeates still finished as one of leading scorers/assisters despite his pretty wretched performances from Xmas onwards and was maybe the main reason we got draws at Leciester, v Burnley and won at Hull with some superb goals. I still think he should be moved on as he is not good enough.

Hard to argue with much of this. The fact our player of the season got a C+ says a lot.

The really scary thing is how much contracted dross we'll have dragging us down. We could spend millions on getting rid (never mind replacing) those buggers.

Deadbat

Deadbat, have you calculated the players' average ratings from your match reports?

I suppose I could have done that but as I only went to the home games would not have been fair; so tried to take into account bits and pieces I saw from away games and general feelings from others who saw more of the away games.
