I read the headline, but forgot that De Laet was one of them at Preston (on a sidenote, how typically childish of Fergie). Well, we're going to need some fresh faces in the back line - and Ritchie certainly knows what we're about. I was impressed with what I saw of him, and personally wouldn't be angry if he made a return.

Just shows the risks of relying so much on loan players (as if we didn't know already). Bit childish by Fergie though, but to be fair I'd probably do the same for my lad.

I hear what you are saying, being a dad myself, but I wonder what the players he has recalled think of it? Very unprofessional and childish, in my opinion.

Very childish from Ferguson. Shows that Sir Alex sent them to PNE for non-footballing reasons. Is that allowed? And why is Pulis getting involved?

I'd be interested to know the views of the players involved (de Laet, James, King plus Stoke's Pugh and Tonge) who will now go and sit on the bench at best, play a bit of reserve football and do sod all to aid their footballing development. PNE were bottom of the league but that would be experience for those young lads, it'd make them into men.

Ferguson is a great manager, but has never thought that the rules that apply to everybody else need apply to him. He thinks he's a law unto himself, and is an absolute disgrace.

I'd be embarressed if I was Darren Ferguson. It looks like he's gone crying to his daddy saying: "It's not fair, It's not fair!"

Fergie's then called his hard mate Pulis and together they've pulled the plug. Pathetic.

Its worse than pathetic. If PNE are relegated there seems to be a real chance of them going out of business. Obviously I would prefer us to stay up rather than them, but surely any club should be able to decide for themselves whether to change manager, and they have now been left with a much less than level playing field directly through Ferguson's actions.

Premier League bully boys, enough said

Lets use it to our advantage then :)

Would like Josh King. Was a real handful earlier in the season.

What a Grade A mardy twat Fergie is. Still, more fools Preston if they thought that loan signings were the way forward. We tried it, and it's knackered us.

Ferguson has made a mochery of the loan system, especially persuading his mate Pullis to recall two players back to Stoke.

So let's assume that these five players are placed on loans with other various teams, so what would happen if Ferguson Junior got a new job, and then asked his Dad and his mate if he could have the five players at his new club.

Absolute shambles.

Ferguson Senior should be charged with "bringing the game into disrepute!"

Hold on hold on, do you not think part of the reason they employed Fergie Jnr in the first place was because of the players he could possibly get in?
They have to realise the consequences of it all.

They were happy to sign players, without having clauses in about them being recalled.

Yes it is mardy from Fergie Snr, but I'd do the exact same.

As for Stoke, Tonge was recalled as they have injuries I believe, not sure about Pugh.

Someone wrote in the Guardian today that one legitimate reason to pull loan players after a change of manager is that you'd agreed with the previous manager how a particular player will be used, and that gentleman's agreement has gone out of the window.

The wider point, however, is that the loan system is out of control and is distorting competition in the PL and the football league generally. There is no justification for allowing a team to field 5 loan players out of 11. It also facilitates the stockpiling of young players, which is anti competitive. It's time something was done about the loan system. It won't be, though.

Yeah i read that this morning. Richard Williams i think?

It's a very good point, and certainly no-one interviewed from PNE on the football league show seemed to be annoyed about it.

I heard an interview with someone from Man Utd; might even have been Ferguson where they said two of the players had loans which were ending two days later and they both wanted to go back to Man Utd as they weren't finding their time at Preston particularly useful. The Mancs had spoken with the Preston chairman to explain their reason for pulling them a couple of days early.

So De Laet has gone to Portsmouth for the rest of the season.

seems like we r being left behind the door with the good signings`other`clubs are making at the moment.
I would have liked to have kept hold of this lad anyway, but another bites the dust!

The further we drag behind the rest of this division, the more jealous we'll be of the quality 'other' teams are signing.

What gets me is. Leeds, Preston, Portsmouth, Hull are all reported to have major money problems, how are they signing better players than our "well run club" and on top of that - KEEPING the quality in their squads without repercussion. Seems like we've took a more negative role than others which is where the Negative "Vibe" comes from at the lane.

Thank God for Micky Adams :)
