Player Suggestion David Raya

He’s my favourite in the championship. Good shot stopper and good with the ball at his feet. But he’s a bit small and lacks domination at set pieces.

Yeah I said this in the Watkins thread but I was only working from the highlights of the Swansea game, apparently he has a mistake or two in him.

So does Hendo.

Every keeper makes mistakes, what we need is a keeper who can bounce back from mistakes (like Hendo).

Terrible positioning for that free kick & almost fucked up when he came out to nearly halfway line to head a ball

Just knocked a zero off his value. Great superman impression though.

The header was a massive error to be out there at all, his positioning was awful for the free kick, but I feel like it doesn't get punished very often in that situation. Not many players take that shot on, especially at 105 mins of a game. And even fewer score it.

Typical nu-age keeper. Good distribution. Shit at saving. Weak as water.

Easy to say after last night but it didn't change my opinion of him, it just reinforced it. He's the GK equivalent of John Stones - looks impressive, great with the ball at his feel, glides over the ground but has a fundamental flaw in his game - his decision making, and is therefore prone to making a huge error at any time.

Not seen loads of Raya, but looks very good. However, we don't really need that style of keeper for our tactics.

N.B. I think it's a bit harsh to blame him too much for what I'd describe as a brilliant goal by Bryan last night. Caught Raya out, sure, but how often does anyone try that shot, let alone pull it off?

Raya's awful starting position for free-kicks had been flagged to the Fulham coaching team so it clearly wasn't a one-off. Yes, he's a touch unfortunate that Bryan hit the ball as well as he did but he's in the wrong place with his weight on the wrong foot. It's a basic error.
