Another player on his way down, so ideal for us then.

Anyone who wouldn't have him is daft (same with Blackman).

We're in League One.

He was Donny's best player when they went up from this league.

But it's a non starter. He wouldn't drop to this level.

One thing he couldn't do was cross a ball to where the strikers wanted it.

I'd rather eat my own shit than have him back

Cotterrill is another one of those that is on the "Improved tenfold since left" list.

Let's remember that he joined us in his late teens / early twenties having previously shot into the spotlight as one of the countries highest rated young talents. He signed for Premier League Wigan after impressing as an academy graduate at Bristol and shooting into the international setup, this is why he excited us so much when we signed him.

The truth is however....He was still fairly young, naive and inexperienced despite his international exposure....

He is a different player since he left us......Over time he has improved and is one of the better wingers in the Championship still on paper. In my opinion and with promotion in mind, he would be a no brainer for us because he is ready made for the step up....It won't happen but to decline his services is absolute tomfoolery!!

Good luck to him. Talented player but didn't turn it on often enough in a Blades shirt for me. I gather he's been like that at a lot of other clubs hence why he became such a journeyman and has ended up going full circle.

We have better and more effective footballers at the club already, especially in attacking areas. Prediction? He will have a few good games for Bristol City and then look disinterested after that. For another example see Jon Stead.

I'm daft then. But I'm not. I've been playing and then watching real life football for half a century. Still, your computer knows best....

Yes, of course. My computer. Not a simple stating of the obvious, in this case.

You just have an extreme aversion to any player who's represented us before. You probably wouldn't have Lowton and Maguire back.

He would drop to this level for this season if the salary and length of contract was right bearing in mind our aim is promotion this season .

If Wilder wanted him we would have signed him IMO . Wilder has put his faith in Chapman on the proviso we get promotion and the first punt on signing him if we are in the championship . A bit of speculation going on , is that why we have had him back even though he is injured . Method in Wilders madness .

Me I go with Wilder with Chapman over Cotterill .

Cotterill was never really a possibility, there's no obvious place in the team for him in the 3-5-2, and he wouldn't come without a guaranteed starting place. It's different with Chapman, he's just a youngster and he could probably fit in somewhere. And he'll be quite a lot cheaper. We won't have a chance of him permanently so that won't come into it.

Glad this didn't happen. Travelled to Southampton last game of season a few years back, went one-nil up through an early Stephen Quinn header if I remember rightly. Anyway, he got hauled off before half time because he refused to track back. Plus he's nesh.

Yes, regularly bullied by the cunt Blackwell who wanted him to be an auxiliary full back instead of a winger. Culminating, of course, in the decision to play Jordan Stewart at RW against Newcastle for 15 minutes whilst leaving DC on the bench.
Consistently played at a higher level than us since his departure, but hey.

Fwiw, he can do better than this division and we aren't particularly desperate for a RW. Best of at Bristol for sure.

I seem to remember he caused us quite a few problems in the play-off final (v Burnley?)
Kept taking the ball up to the fullback and being tackled, which was obviously disappointing - but made worse by the fact that the FB seemed to be able to dispossess him and then, without challenge, move up the pitch with the ball and all the time he needed

He was the only player who would take on his man in that team. Always rated him. For some reason wingers are like marmite with united fans.

There's no doubt he was a lazy nesh basted in them days, but he must have seen the error of his ways as he has had a good career in championship,
2-1 Ken swears by him.

He was as standard as wingers came at the time. Lazy defensively but our best option to create something. Was desperately needed and underated in that team. Remember being gutted when we lost him.

I don't mind ball-playing wingers being tackled, but when the tackler stays on his feet and walks away with the ball every time, the winger should at least be smart enough to think of doing something different

Looks to have put some muscle on to me. Maybe to combat the nest sayers.

I'd been watching football for 60 years when I thought that Weir was a good appointment.:D

Experience is invaluable in any walk of life. That includes learning by making errors of judgement and taking the knocks. It still beats kids on computers by a very long way...

...David's glory years are yet to come. :)

When on song he tore teams apart including at least one premier league team in a cup match at the lane. He was much better than our standard hence him playing a division higher most of his career since leaving us.

Most of our fans still slagging him hated Leon Britton too. If you don't run through brick walls you aren't good enough for most at the Lane hence in my entire time supporting us we've had only one 'footballing team' at a decent level and that was the one under Kendall.
