David Brooks

It's a huge year for Brooks. He needs to graduate from the odd flash of brilliance to being the dominant force in a game, a bit like Grealish to be honest. I'm hoping a years experience and 100% fitness will help that process. However if he does make that transition, he will almost certainly be gone in the next window.

Imagine a midfield 3 of Grealish Maddison Brooks.

A good to great midfield requires chemistry, and doesn't always consist of the most skilful players. We we're lucky over the last couple of seasons to have (mostly) three gifted players in Coutts, Fleck, and Duffy to call upon, but even then in Fleck we have a player willing to put his foot in when necessary. The fundamentals roughly remain the same, a midfield needs graft, tenacity, the ability to spot a pass and make sure it arrives at it's destination, and when called upon someone capable of stopping the opposition.

Agreed, he seems a very humble bloke. In his situation, it would be very easy to become a full weight tw*t. Also, his attitude towards Wales is commendable. Seems like one of the lads, rather than trying to put himself in the spotlight a la C Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic etc

Ronaldo is actually a very humble and reserved person.

He's one of the most respected figures in world football.

You obviously know nothing about him.

Haha...ha!

Mr Humble, so happy that one of his teammates scored a worldy to win his team the tournament...I’m sure he’s a good egg and he seems very professional and a private person away from the pitch...BUT, his attitude and arrogance in football is part of what makes him one of the greatest on the pitch.

The boy done well again. Great experience for him in front of a huge crowd.

Bit taken from match report below.

It turned into attack versus defence in the second half - save for the odd break-out from the sprightly Brooks - but Wales survived a few late scares to deny Mexico in front of a huge crowd of 82,345.

Brooks got the 2nd half in the game against Mexico – which finished 0-0 in just over 82,000 at the excellent Rose Bowl. Quite an under-strength Wales team for that – no Bale, Allen, Chester, and Ashley Williams went off early. Looked on the highlights as though we barely attacked, so I doubt Brooks saw much of the ball. Evans was an unused sub.

I'm sticking with noncy. :D

Based on? Three goals all season? Sure, he 'looks the part', but there's no end product.

Based on the fact he has been Villa’s standout player this season and they narrowly missed out on promotion and each time I’ve seen him play he has been head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.

Since when has goals scored been the only meaningful attribute of a midfielder???

Granted, he’s a diving piece of shit and it infuriates me but his quality is surely plain to see.

I've rarely seen Ronaldo celebrate a goal he wasn't involved in.

I watched the game mostly because Brooksy came on. (Shame Evans didn’t appear). He was his typical self. Skinned the full back gloriously a couple of times and drove into the area where he was inevitably tackled by a forest of Mexican legs.
His link up play isn’t the best, and although he covers the field well, his tackling and heading leave something to be desired (yet).
There’s no doubt he has great potential (the US commentators were very complimentary) but he’s no where near his best yet in terms of physicality. I’d say he’s still two years away from being a top shelf tequila.

Wales did well to hang on for a draw in the heat. Hennessy was the difference with one brilliant stop with his outstretched leg.
Don’t see much happening for Mexico in the WC. They have individual talent but very little team ethos.

So Brooks has been playing football on an all expenses paid trip to California.

Kids today...

Nice picture, though it looks like he has got a fat slug laid out across each of his eyes. Lazy slug bstards, moping about doing nowt - get some work done. The young slugs of today make me sick, they think the world (or in this case David Brooks) owe them a living - not like when i was a lad - slugs had to work hard in them days like eating lettuce in the allotments and that.

Not daft them slugs, found a safe place to be, no chance of getting squashed with a football or getting wet with sweat.;)
