£7m from that. £7m for O'Connell/Fleck. Wilder might have something resembling a mediocre budget after all....
(If we don't go up, but to be honest I still feel it's more likely we don't, if ya get meh. I mean, it's a big ask int it? There are a lot of "very powerful football clubs" around us and there's a long way to go. But you never know in football, the only thing that you know is that you never know, do you know what I mean, Seth?)

Spurs should get him and Bowen. They can flog the Danish lad then to Madrid for 100m, gave change and be sorted for the next 5 years until Madrid cone again.

If he does go for 50 mill I don’t care about sell on clauses we should have held out for 50 million ourselves.
Of course we should....

In the meantime we've got good money for a decent player which allowed him to progress, allowing us to build on what we have in areas we needed to. We now sit much higher up the division and look stronger for selling him.

Plus another 3 million when Adams leaves Brum for 15 million.

Bugger off with your sensible discussion, this is all about hyperbole. :D

We didn’t touch the money whilst January, could have waited and kept him in the squad and sold him for more.

Brooks went for around 12m? Which given the improvement in the last 6 months is (in hindsight) an excellent deal for Bournemouth.

However, was still a gamble as he could've failed to adapt to the Premier league.

Also if he does go for 50m plus in the summer and we recoup 5m of that, I then stands to reason that we in theory get around 17m for him. Which, I think, about as much as any championship team can probabaly expect to get for a player. And at the time he left think most blades would probabaly agree was a fair/decent price?

You;re not understanding the situation.

If we had kept him, that means he;d have never played in the PL, keeping his valuation well down.
Also I’m not sure where he would have played, who would he replace? McGoldrick?
Still think Brooks would have been impact sub if he’d have stayed, again keeping his valuation down.
His valuation is only so high because he;s proving himself playing in the PL.

He’s left us and developed into a much better player playing with better players.
Don’t mean he’d have developed in the same way if he’d have stayed.
We are now much better than last season when Brooks waa here, so the sale is proving to a great piece of business for us and AFCB.

Why would we pay 7 million for Hogan?
We don’t know if he’s up to standard yet.
Also more importantly we don’t know what league we will be playing in.
Based on his previous transfer fee,and obviously if he comes up trumps,a fit and firing Hogan would have all the weapons to succeed in the Prem, just my opinion.

But more to the point what do you think about having some free dosh.

Norwich got £22m plus add ons for Maddison, no doubt with a sell-on as well

I'd love to know how many of those crowing that we should have kept this class player worth £50 million would sanction paying that to bring him back if we went up!!

At some point we're going to run out of players with sell-on clauses. How is the club going to be financed when all these windfalls stop?

That’s the role of the academy, they have to keep finding hidden gems, to finance the first team

I sorry mate I never thought of that. I was thinking in the opposite Blades way.

We go for it under Wilder.

We kept Brooks. We signed Egan, Norwood and McGoldrick then smashed the league.
Then we’d have a chance in the Prem with Brooks our key player.

Fulham also turned down 20 and 30 million pound bids only last season. Birmingham have turned down bids in the region of 12-15 million for Adams too. I think 30 million (plus add ons) might be tops for a Championship player. It's interesting that Eddie Howe agrees with us, saying Brooks would've been out of Bournemouth's financial reach with more time in the shop window. I should congratulate you for sticking your head above the parapet on this issue in the Star. I was one of your contributers saying similar (Shaun).

It’s not always about spending right away.

The brooks money gave us a bigger buffer. It allowed wilder to go and get additional players

And of course it allowed wilder to plan ahead for what he needed in January.

We’ve gone out and been able to bring in real quality this January.

If brooks was still here we’d have had to pay him more and keep him happy whilst allowing him to leave has opened up many doors - Norwood for example

A positive of Brooks going that's often overlooked, is that it makes our FFP figures look very healthy. If anybody wants to throw money at us our figures are 5.5m; 2m; and whatever this years figure is. Once allowable expenses are taken off they should be really healthy. Next year the 5.5 million figure will drop off. We just need the owners now.

Norwood was funded by Evans and Leonard. The Brooks money wasn’t touched.

We sold a player now being linked with the top teams to fund 3 January loans. I’d say that’s not the best business.

In the summer,£50m move to Spurs or Man U on the cards.

Surely we have a 20% sell on clause, should see us get £8m,pay for Hogan that wunt it.

Don't want to burst anyone's bubble but
  1. How much do barristers costs per week?
  2. Who did we buy with the Brooke's, Harry, jags, kyle1, kyle2, Adams, DCL, et al money on?

Typical of the board at SUFC selling on the cheap as usual. The party line should be we're not selling our best players, we're building a team around them, however if we do sell we get top dollar for them. Liverpool were sniffing around for Brooks at the end of last season, we should have held for £25m, they're cash rich and cash stupid in the Prem, the board and some of our fans need to get in the real world instead of being thankful for crumbs from clubs like Bournemouth.

Sadly nobody cares about FFP. Especially those who introduced the bloody thing.
