What a great bloke he is and still loves his Sheffield football. He talked really well before commentary started on the thfc v bfc game. There's a documentary somewhere from the 89/90 season when you was promoted to top division.if anyone has a link to it I'd love to see it again I think calendar did it when he tore into players at half-time and you went out and won the game I think.it was an away game as you was In the fluorescent yellow kit. In my time watching football imo he's been the best manager you've had

Cheers mate. For posting the link not for that I'm an oinker as you call it :)

I wonder if Harry still wants both Sheffield clubs merged?

For someone so revered, for someone one would assume had a good handle on the indignation and loathing between the two tribes in the city (and beyond), this was one of the most fucking brain dead statements I have heard up to and including the stuff from our own Mr McCabe.

Fucking club merging. Fuck off Harry.

It's all about context.
I think Harry was talking about Leeds and Newcastle are 1 club cities and have a big fan base with realistic chances of honours.
So he was saying imagine if United and Wednesday had 1 club, would now get 60,000 gates in the 2nd tier and be ripe for big investors.
The home and away support would take the pi$$ out of what Leeds can muster.

Seems fine in theory but in practice many would stop going if the clubs merged.
Personally if the entertainment is good and the price is reasonable I WOULD give it a go.
If there was no Sheffield club that I'd go to the occasional Rotherham match.

Love the blades but a merge would mean I may potentially see a Sheffield team lift the Premier League, so I would be for a merge.

I've always been for a merger personally. Be fantastic for the city. The problem is people often haven't given a thought to the details. Here's a few thoughts.

Obviously the new team would have to wear a colour that represents what Sheffield is all about. As we're a labour city (all constituencies now as well) and even used to fly the red flag on the town hall during the old Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire days, red seems to be the logical choice. We'd need to differentiate from our soon to be biggest title rivals Man United so white stripes would be a logical addition.

The new 60,000 seater stadium would need to be in the heart of the city it represents, the traditional downtown playing field of Bramall lane, oldest professional stadium in the world, would be the logical choice.

As for the name, it would need to represent the new found togetherness of the city: Sheffield United Football Club perhaps?

The badge should of course communicate a sense of local tradition while depicting a classy nickname the fans can relate to. The proud tradition of steel and particularly cutlery making would be perfect, maybe a pair of crossed blades. We could even put a white rose in the centre indicating our yorkshire allegiance.

I'm sure all true Sheffielders could get behind a team like that. :)

I would be for a merger in the sense that the pigs go out of existence, we continue to grow as a club both on and off the pitch, gaining the support of future generations and therefore becoming the sole team representing Sheffield.

That's the kind of merger i'd have no problem with.

But that won't happen we both know it,if a merger even happened and i don't think it will ,it would be sheffield city fc
