Dave Bassett On Chris

I remember being at Villa park for the end of our seven game run without a goal in 1990. Vinnie Jones scored (I think it was a header from a corner, not unlike McBurnie's the other day), and there was a full on pitch invasion from the away end.

We had 7 points going into Xmas back then though....if I recall correctly. This is a bigger mountain now.

Didn't give up hope then though, nor now. That would be a stupid thing to do.

Depends which way you look at it. We had 4 points before the Forest game, which was the last game before Xmas so technically yes we did have 7 points on Xmas Day but we would have had 4 if we hadn't beaten Forest that day.

As much as I loved the run after that day that season I just can't see it happening anymore as the top division is a million miles different now unfortunately.

Yes it was a completely different league in terms of quality back then. Also players could get stuck in without the fear of a straight red!

...in the end :)

Little did we know on that incredible day at Leicester on May 5th that it would be seven months before our next league win. It was all worth it though.
Or at least 30 years until we beat them again!

Holloway resigned from Crystal Palace and they stayed up.

Crystal Palace sacked De Boer and stayed up.

Not saying that no Wilder is the answer, but no one can say for sure that no Wilder is not the answer

The only time in that season I thought we would go down was after the Sunderland game.
