"Crystal Palace right-back Danny Butterfield is set to join Sheffield United on a free transfer." - Daily Mirror.

Obviously the source isn't one I particularly find trustworthy but surprised it hasn't been picked up on on this board yet.

Can't say I recall seeing him all to often, although I was far from impressed watching him against Wednesday in that particular game, can't say i'd be blown away but see the logic. People's thoughts?

Not a bad signing to be fair. I think to judge anyone on their performance at Swillsborough in "that" game is a tad unfair, pressure cooker situation and all that!

That said, as far as signing Palace players is concerned I am nervous by the fact that Warnock isn't interested in taking them, (apart from Ambrose) to QPR.................................

This would be a very decent signing on a free. He is a seasoned performer at Championship level. He's generally reliable defensively and going forward. We need options like this in the squad, so he will do for me.

Matt:- Yes it was Butterfield who scored the hat-trick against Villa. Bizarre as it was

Good backup... but hope he's only that.

I can't see him being signed as a backup. Don't want to go back quickly to the pointless SUN JI signing. Lowton will surely be the back up full back. I think we will end up signing Bardsley when Sunderland finally sign Hutton from Spurs

Bardsley would be a quality coup.if we could afford his wages

Valid point, but I can only really judge him on what I've seen of him and thats the only instance I could recall having an opinion, during which I wasn't too enamoured with him, however t'is true accomplished Championship full-back on a free is rarely a bad option especially when you have precious little, we'll see, only rumour until we hear otherwise.

Lets not go crazy about all the Palace defenders did anyone see how WBA took them apart in that monday night game?? Should have been 5 or 6

Butterfield would be a solid signing. He's been decent when I've seen him play, and for a free must be one of the better options available for that position in the Championship. Certainly a better player than Paul Connolly. By no means a world-beater, but for at the very least he'd do a good job for us next season.

It's on the Star website too.

Get him snapped up. He is absolutely better than France and Taylor. With our current defence then this is a no brainer.

Signed for Saints over the weekend - according to the BBC transfer site.

Bovered?

didnt we do well to attract another player.we must sit em down and talk to them with shotguns to there heads, mighty southampton

The attraction might well have been not having to move house.

All the Palace players looked utterly delighted to stay up at Hillsboro a few months ago, it must be a bit of kick in the teeth that despite drawing the game (and messing up for Wednesday's first) that he's found himself personally relegated to League 1.
