Does a decent job to be fair - better defensively and no qualms if we need to switch it up to a back 4.

That said, he gets in some incredible positions going forward but tends to lose his head a bit!

Don't rate him at all. He can't cross a ball to save his life, he's of the hit & hope variety. He's hardly been tested as a defender either so that part of his play is left to the imagination. One things for sure, he will not cut it at Championship level.

Wasted signing in my opinion.

Similar to Freeman for me, not convinced about either defensively but doing the job at the moment. Next season, should we go up, will be a different proposition for both.

agree with most the comments, seems solid and dependable at this level (almost like our Naysmith of this league) -hopefully would be able to do the business in the next league when we get there

happy to sign him as long as money isnt stupid and with CW incharge you know it wont be !

if you think of the Hill's, Stewarts et al we have had at left back in recent times he certainly is a massive improvement!

I'm not his biggest fan , but he is solid and doesn't seem to make many mistakes , leading to goals. So I'm happy if he signs. Just needs to work on his forward play like crossing. Always crosses in high instead of across the ground. But I do think he brings balance to the team.

Sometimes you have to look back at LB's we have had and realise he is a good improvement on what we have had to endure.
He's solid defensively and is usually a threat going forward.

IMO better than all the following
Mcleverly, Harris, Williams, LJF, Mcfadzean, Hill (though he was much better centrally).

Saying that he has had a dip of form recently, but every player will.

Freeman and Lafferty are opposites. The former IS a wing back who has never been able to play as a full back whereas Lafferty is a full back who gets a nose bleed when he crosses the half way line.
If you could combine them into one player then clone that player you'd have a pair of fucking outstanding wingbacks.

Not the worst player we've ever had by a long shot, but the weakest link in the current team IMO. He doesn't add enough going forward for me, he cannot cross, gets caught out of position defensively and I just cannot see him cutting it at Championship level. In CW I trust though.

I agree with Wooden house on this.

Just about everyone we have in the team at the moment looks very comfortable on the ball. Except, IMHO, Lafferty. He NEVER dwells on the ball. as soon as it comes to him he passes it on. Usually to the player who he just got it from. He never takes on any responsibility. Unlike Freeman, Duffy and Fleck we rarely see him taking a man on. His crosses are very hit and miss. More often than not they hit the first defender or go far too long. His finishing is poor.

He does have the ability to find space. And he also has a great first touch. But in my opinion thats all he does have.

Like most posters though I do trust CW. He must see something I dont. I bow to his higher knowledge.

Regarding your point about how he moves the ball on quickly. For me, that is his style of play and to be honest I think he is very good at playing one and two touch football. Think he played the onetwo with coutts before the latter squared to EEL against bury.
