Quote from him about the game made me laugh. He said "I felt we controlled the game with our defending".

Putting 10 men behind the ball and basically trying to make the match unwatchable is not controlling the game

Putting ten men behind the ball against a team with one half fit striker doesn't say much about you or your team

No idea how you cobtrol the game through not having the ball.

What nonsense!

Yes me too mate, Simon Tracey in particular was a real piss-taker and WUM. But, I don't know if you were at the game yesterday, but Norwich took gamesmanship to new levels, they really did. And the referee was too weak to do anything about it. 4 times he warned their goalie about wasting time - 4 times! And he still didn't book him.
Wouldn't have made any difference if he had booked him.

I don't think I've ever seen a player sent off for picking up two bookings for wasting time and that ref yesterday certainly wasn't going to set a precedent.

Things didn't all go their way.

Coutts could easily have had a straight red for taking one of theirs out which would have meant a three match ban.

They probably should have had a penalty when Blackman took the lad out in the box, although we could say the same about one in the first half.

They came to do a job and did it well.

Not pretty but very effective.

We put it behind us, learn some lessons and move on, thankful that an incompetent referee has at least allowed our best midfielder to play next week.

he actually warned him 18 times .

No... because a booking puts a stop to it. o_O

Really?

Most games it just carries on as if nothing ever happened because the players know that they're not going to be sent off for two yellows for timewasting.

I think his first warning came after 32 minutes so he let him take the piss for over an hour after that.

Well I was 150 yds away on the kop and my eyes aren't the best but my instinct was, I've seen em given :)

I was in the Westfield and as Foxy said it was a foul on Blackman if anything.....Jamal had his hands cupped to receive the ball when the striker clattered into him....not the other way around.

Whilst we are talking about the gamesmanship from Norwich I can accept time-wasting to a certain extent, it happens in every game although ideally the Ref should book someone early doors to try and stamp it out.............what really pissed me off though was the time-wasting by feigning injury......on four or five occasions they had players on the deck rolling around in apparent agony and that prick Maddison refusing to leave the pitch should have been sent off but by that time the ref had lost it completely.

If that's the way NCFC want to win games then let them crack on....I would rather drop points than resort to those tactics....can you imagine one of our players behaving like that....Wilder would have ran on and kicked his arse off the pitch..

His first go at time wasting was just two minutes after they had scored. Until one gets sent off for two yellows it will only get worse. Word gets round, and keepers will know that they can mess about all game with that ref and only get one yellow.

In my opinion / experience it makes a difference and puts doubt in the keepers mind. Particularly on Saturday I don't think we'd have seen quite the level of antics displayed by Gunn if the ref had shown him a card around his third warning (in the first half, btw)

Am I right in thinking that Wilder had a go at Carruthers about diving last season / earlier this season?

Thought he should've gone down a couple of times on Saturday but tried to carry on.

His first go was actually after two minutes. We said right then they were here for a point.
At 5 minutes we had the first kicking the ball away when one of their forwards was offside and calmly played it into no mans land. Obvious enough to see but not incur the anger of the ref.
It got worse after the goal but the dye was cast well before.

Wouldn't have made any difference if he had booked him.

Surely that's because the first booking means he can't/won't keep doing it.
A booking after one of his goal kick productions would have changed the whole tone of the game in my view.

The fact he warned him (whistling and pointing to his watch) TWICE in the first half, and then only added 1 minute extra told them all they needed to know about how serious he was going to take it second half.
I would love to see the assessors report on the ref because if he is not marked extremely low for not being willing/able to stop the gamesmanship then the FA are failing in their care of the game.

As said earlier in the thread a performance so reminiscent of early 70's Leeds it was almost a tribute.

I'd be interested to see the % of time in the 2nd half that the ball was in play.

You are obviously less cynical than me and have more faith in our officials.

If he had been booked in the first five minutes nothing would have changed and the ref would have spent the next 90 pointing at his watch and reminding him to get a move on.

I've still never seen a goalie get two yellows for time wasting what ever they have done.

Obviously doesn't believe what he's pretending to believe. Just very transparent self-congratulating. Don't know much about him as a manager - might be quite good. Appears to be a bit of a deficient character, though.

Tell it like it is. The word "Cunt" will magically appear.
