Rochdale chief executive Colin Garlick has dismissed speculation linking boss Keith Hill with the vacant managerial positions at Barnsley and Sheffield United.

The highly-rated Hill, 42, has won many admirers for his outstanding work at Spotland and has been linked with the managerless Yorkshire clubs.

Yet Garlick says Hill, who steered Dale to their first promotion since 1969 last season and then guided them to an impressive ninth-placed finish this term, has had no contact with either club.

Garlick told Press Association Sport: "There`s been no approach for the services of Keith Hill from Barnsley, Sheffield United or any other club for that matter.

"Keith and I have been working together as normal, signing up players on new contracts and drawing up plans for pre-season.

"We`ve had this kind of speculation before with Crystal Palace in January but Keith Hill is Rochdale manager and is doing an outstanding job."

Apparantly, on Dales o/s today, Hill himself dismisses joining both Barnsley and ourselves, saying he will be manager at Dale when the season starts.
