Don't worry, this is the year ..........were going to do it !

Is it just me ,I hate Champagne ,almost bad enough to avoid winning something :)
What is the viable alternative ?

Not an expert by any stretch, but I find that many of the named champagnes like Moët are vile unless you get the limited stuff. vinegar type bottles of piss. Price is often not a guide in bars and restaurants, had some awful bottles of expensive stuff, cracking cheap stuff.

Personally I prefer a decent bottle of prosecco than a cheap champagne. Get a bottle for £10-15 from sainsburys and you might well change your opinion. I tend to find a bottle and stick with that one.

As for the pricey and vintage stuff I have a limit, tried some really flashy/ bling stuff, but it's the classics and more importantly the year which tends to govern the difference between decent fizz and Sarsons

Agree with that. No point buying cheap Champagne - may as well buy a good fizz from elsewhere. But a very good Champagne is something to behold.

wine in UK = rip off
5 litres red 7 euro's in Paraza decent stuff as well, the champagne lark is another fookin rip off !

Years ago when beer was worth drinking a pint of Stones was far better.

"d'accord" hark at you. Laquelle region de la France etiez-vous ? Vous etes raison au sujet du vin en Angleterre , c'est merde, et moins chere la bas

heyup serry .................... Paraza wi mi feet in the Canal du Midi , some of the wine in the UK is borderline vinegar and the gud stuff hard to find and an arm n' a leg to buy
Its like the fruit in supermarkets.....looks the part BUT !

No for me its a 5litre plastic bottle and down the village :D

Moet, SchMoet in our house - awful stuff

Can't honestly tell the difference between Champagne (admittedly Moet) and Asda Cava.

Obviously wasted on me..............

Football - the working mans game!

20 to 30 years ago the terrace talk is about Beer, Pies, page 3 and Strikes.......
And now- pontificating in French and talking about the virtues of Champagne and Wine.....

Get a f~**ing grip lads.
This is Sheffield - In the North

Anyhow can't stop, the Foie Gras and cavier has just been brought to me by my man Jeeves

Obviously the two are the same then :)

Think you might be on to something there :)

The thing is, my ex-boss is a big champagne man, and he brought some "decent" stuff back from France one year (Mumm ?)...........didn't rate that either :D

So northerners have to settle for Beer, pies, page 3 and strikes?

I like beer, pies and page 3 just not all the time. I also like other fine foods, wine and Champagne.

I don't and never have liked Strikes.

Of course we don't, I am with you on this - You were missing my sarcasm!

I was gonna join the discussion about my love of Prosecco when it occured that we have moved on out of the dark ages - the stereotype of the working class man gone thank god..

So I had to comment on it :)

Fookin Champagne....................... tasteless alka seltza with as much appeal as cat piss

Ha ha Apologies VespaBlade I think i took your comments at face value

I must admit that I am not much of a conasewer of wine or Champagne. I like wine as a drink but know very little about it. Champers always flatters to deceive in my book. I have enjoyed a glass of Cava jsut as much on occasions. Prosecco too.
It's the mem saabs that get suduced into thinking that anything French and expensive is classy.
I would rather make my own mind up.

Tasted better ciders and ales than many a glass of fizz
