It was literally one of the first things he was talking about.

Listen again.

You've misinterpreted Wilder's comments. Nowhere did he say or suggest that Clarke was returning to the team. All he said that he had a good work-out and was fine to be considered, if not this week, then the following week.

^^This. Saves me writing it

any chance someone could put up a transcript, or even the gist of it for those of us in work??

Thanks

  • Full group to choose from. Even Leon Clarke back in contention after Tuesday's behind closed doors friendly. "In a fantastic position, injuries-wise".
  • No "skulking" behind the scenes. "You've got to be in, or you'll be out". It's a team game - it's all about the group. "If you don't wanna be part of it, there's a set of golf clubs, or there's a tennis racket, go off and play that individual sport"...
  • Combination of attitude and being a "progressive team".
  • "Week in, week out, we turn up". Willing to play in any conditions. No excuses about pitches (or anything else). "We'll turn up on Saturday with a top attitude and a top work ethic".
  • Need to be flexible, about personnel & formations. Have to play to the conditions. Need to make changes and adapt, depending on what happens. But won't be making "6 changes" for Saturday's game.
  • John Sheridan's a pig and a wanker*.
  • Oldham got a decent defensive record and have some good players. A real test. But looking forward to Saturday & playing in front of 4,500 Blades.

(* Tbh I've *slightly adapted* what CW said here)

Which is basically what Willglynning said...

Lots of respect for Sheridan. Even when he's taking the piss out of him for being a pig he's very very polite and respectful. Got to love Wilder

Check again Swiss, there's a subtle difference between being considered for the squad and the team. Nowhere did Wilder state the team.
Think you're being harsh, I can't be arsed to listen again, but wilder basically said he played well and he's close or in contention. Let's not dissect everything down to the molecular level.

Clarke played, did alright and is close. Wilder was upbeat when he talked about him. He's possibly in contention for sat or tues

This John Sheridan?

Harsh? I was only responding to a misinterpretation. If you find that 'harsh' then perhaps it's worth making sure you listen attentively to what Wilder said in the first place, then I wouldn't have to read that, incorrectly, I'm being harsh.

Yes sir ;)

As I said, couldn't be arsed just listened to the key points rather than over analysed the whole interview

Thanks William Henry Foulkes

Just listened to his interview on blades player and he said Clarke played for 60 minutes was excellent and in contention for Saturday. This is not same interview as radio sheffield , different interviewer

Open to interpretation, but I also think Karl Robinson really pissed him off on Saturday. My guess is that, as well as in his post match interview, Robinson probably did some sledging on the sidelines in reference to us changing our shape, probably something along the lines of "we've got them on the ropes, they're shitting themselves." Anyway, Wilder still felt the need to mention the 31 point gap and stick it up him.

(* Tbh I've *slightly adapted* what CW said here) - Nope you just read his mind, we all know he was thinking it... ;)

As usual he stressed the fact that we "play football". We all know what he means and his commitment to the right way is one of many things to admire about him. There's no H in Tuftyball.

⚽. ❤⚔.

And lo and behold, Clarke is on the bench.
After he said that Clarke would probably be returning to the squad.
Funny that.

And lo and behold, a faux follower of ancient English.....Trouble with this type of "listen to me, I was right all along" hindsight, is that it's just that, hindsight, with no other validation than a decision has been made that neither supports or denies your original assertion. It probably wasn't until yesterday or Thursday that Wilder decided to include Clarke, and even then it may have depended on a set of variables including injuries to other players. But of course, if you wish to suggest that your misinterpretation of Wilder's original comment was based on being factually correct, rather than poor hearing, then by all means blow your own trumpet if it makes you feel good.......it'll be interesting to see how many times in future you make such infantile, unsubstantiated claims followed by shrinking away once someone says, "Hold on, that wasn't actually what was said.....but why let the facts get in the way of such intransigence".

Just re-read what was written, I said that Wilder suggested that Clarke was under consideration, and surprise, surprise, he's considered and decided. Surprise that, it's what a manager's paid to do.

I do not understand what this argument is about. Wilder said Clarke performed well in a friendly behind closed doors, and that he was looking at making a return to the team.

I said Wilder was talking about Clarke coming back into the squad, which he did.

You then said that he didn't say that, he said that Clarke played well in a friendly and could be selected for future matches.

We said the same thing, you just used more words than I did.
