A forgotten man it seems.

Obviously his injury put him out until the end of the season, but never gets a mention when we discuss next season. Will he be given a go, or just shipped straight out amongst the other dross? Difficult one, as most players under Weir were awful, so to single him out would be unfair and he showcased his talents whilst at Walsall. The lad also has age on his side. He never gets a mention so I can only assume he will be moving on, but I do feel he will end up being a decent player at this level at least. Just maybe not in a Sheff Utd shirt.

Cus we'll only be here for one more season.

I think he will be given a chance next season, if he had of stayed this season and not got injured with the cup run we are on I'm sure he would have been given plenty of opportunities e.g. tonight. He will be great next season in a promotion push he just wasn't up to a relegation scrap. That's why clough packed his midfield with workaholics.

When is the official end to the season?
Shaun Miller back for FA Cup final?

What I can't understand is why he wasn't operated on until 27 Feb, 6 weeks after he was injured.

Have a look at his leg as of a month ago on his twitter and whilst you are at it have another look at his missus ;)

I suspect they haven't said much because it's still a mess and they don't know when he'll be fit again.

Given I doubt we'll see Diego this season with a similar injury, I would have my doubts about seeing Cuvelier again at all if his contract is up at the end of the season.

In his Twitter profile it states that he is a "Professional Belgian"

Looks like he is a bit of a prawn start to me ;)

If Jamie Murphy can go from extreme ineptitude to genuine quality within three months, then Flo can too (let's face it - he was awful under Weir).

Whether he will or not remains to be seen, but good luck to him.

Interesting to note from a cursory glance of his twitter feed that while he continues to tweet his last mention of sufc at all was to retweet someone asking why Clough was considering loaning him out. Zero interaction with any players other than congratulating Brandy on a hat-trick for Walsall - despite our excellent run. May well be he never really settled at the club.

He may well not have settled but he and Brandy were team mates at Walsall for a lot of the season before so he probably does know him better than the others. It wouldn't have been difficult to be bewildered during Weir's reign but he probably didn't work hard enough for Cloughie to consider him in the squad post January.

It'll be interesting to know where he's doing his rehabilitation.

I still think he could be a useful player, but would be surprised if he will be near the first team. That said, I recall Clough saying something along the lines of Cuvelier hasn't done anything wrong but he was happy with people who were ahead of him. It might be a case of if ever McGinn gets injured or Coady doesn't stay with us, there might be an opportunity for him then.

I think cuvelier will be a very good footballer in time, i really hope he gets a chance under a good manager like cloughy ,same as i hope brandy can prove us all wrong next season ,i think we could have the nucleus of a very good league 1 team next season.

Really because I have seen absolutely nothing that proves this. I hope I am wrong but I recon that the bloke will end up at Mansfield or such like chasing shadows.

From stoke to mansfield that would be a fall from grace

In Clough's interview today he was asked about Cuvelier, and he said he wouldn't be fit for pre-season, and would probably be trying to get into more physical training after September, and trying to get game time after that, and if he can;t get enough game time, possibly out on loan in January. Sounds like he does still consider him for the future.

Like Miller this season, he'll be playing catch-up and can't really be expected to contribute much without the benefit of a good pre-season behind him. Loaning him out would seem sensible, and we've frankly got plenty of options in the middle of midfield. I'd be surprised if we see him play another game for us.

Isn't he out until January earliest? I imagine he'll get a few reserve games, be given another year and at the end of next season be given a pre season to see how he goes with a few of the other CM starting to get on a bit. I recon give him time and he will be a quality player if he's able to recover. Only worry is when young players get injured they never fully recover as they're always worried of doing it again and only operate at 80%

It's up to him at the end of the day and how much he wants it. Most people get fit from these injuries, however mentally they are unable to play to the same level. Confidence is half of this game and is what makes the difference between top players down.

I can't see that happening. Were he fit right now, his name would almost certainly be alongside Taylor and Brandy for circulation. Clough came in, assessed the squad, and made fairly decisive choices on who to involve and who not to based on what he saw in training etc. Cuvellier was on the bench plenty of times and barely got any game time in his first few months. He's now having to fight to get back to even that level of fitness. By the time he's having a proper preseason we'll hopefully be assessing which of our players will be ready for the Championship.

Only way I think he has a career with us is if we don't go up or Clough leaves imho.

looks like clough will be looking to loan him out come January if he's fit. I think we'll see then if he has any kind of future with us, if he doesn't perform for his loan club he will most likely be off

I wonder if we will keep Cuvelier once he returns from injury?

If we are pushing towards the automatic spots which we hope/expect i don't expect to see him feature, one being we would be in good form and it would be hard to replace any of the starters, and two it's going to be a struggle initially expecting him to hit the ground running after a long lay off.

He'll be going back out on loan me thinks.
