With the recent signing of Holt it has meant Cuvelier has lost his place in the squad, the little I have seen Holt in the past two games he has offered little to nothing. I am all for competition for places but is Holt really what we need in our squad at this moment in time?

For me Cuvelier has offered much more coming off the bench from the few glimpses we have seen of him this season than Holt does. Holt is a player we don't need at this moment in time, small and weak we have enough of those.

The reason I am comparing the two players is they can both play on the right or through the middle so they are obviously positions Clough wants back up for on the bench.

Seems strange worrying about who is or isn't on the bench but we need good options on the bench in tight games.

Cuvelier has had a knock as far as I'm aware that's why he hasn't featured recently otherwise I believe he would have been playing regularly & hope he does so in the following weeks.

Holt's a young lad who's only just settling into moving to a new environment from Scotland, he's played 30 minutes English football & already people 'don't rate him', now I agree from what we've seen in the few brief glimpses he's not exactly impressed much but let's give the lad a chance before we write him off, remember Basham's start at the Lane & a few we're writing him off after 10-12 games (me included) now he's one of the first names on the team sheet.

He hasn't taken Flo's place in the squad. Flo is injured with a reaction to his knee problem.

Damn! Beat me to it ;)
I just noticed he was in the squad against Preston and then back out when Holt came in, then played for U21's but no place in the squad against Colchester. Only reason for my thread.

Give him time, Ross. What was the majority opinion on Bashenbauer after a handful of games ?

And agree I should give him more time, just with us aiming to secure a play off place I think we need our strongest squad out there and Holt hasn't caught my eye so far compared to Cuvelier.

Cuvilier v Holt - wouldn't be much of a fight. A flyweight against someone permanently injured.

I feel bad for Cuvilier, though.

I really do like what I see in Flo, his tenacity, work rate and overall play against the saints really impressed me. IF and that's a big if, is can we keep the lad fit so he can fulfil his potential. My concern is he maybe a Wallace MK2, who doesn't look like he can do more than 20 games a season.

He was here before wallace so maybe he's a wallace MK1 or perhaps wallace is wallace MK2?

Holt was brought in on loan to have a look at him over the rest of the season before any permanent deal is done !
Seems sense to me !!!

Well he certainly fits the type for our squad ....... I saw him for the first time on Tuesday and I swear he's even smaller than Scougal, which takes some doing. On that basis, regrettably, unless he has blistering pace and muscles like "Arnie" he will struggle in this Division.

I believe we've brought him in as people at the club think he's better than Scougall. Only a trial and time will tell. Seems sensible to me.
