I used to work in the Enterprise Centre in 2004 with a view of the full ground (possibly why my time there was short as not much work was done!) - back then the grass was cut at least 3-4 times a week.

Cutting might stimulate it in some way and keep fresh. Just a guess.

Grass doesn't grow in the winter in natural conditions but they put lights over it so it grows and repairs, therefore, it needs a trim.
