If the inevitable happens and we decide to change the man at the helm who do you think would be a good choice? Both the two mentioned are available I believe but the list may not be endless! The floor is open......

be carefull what you wish for ,coppel is renowned for walking out on clubs where he doesnt have money to spend (like us ) and curbishley wouldnt come to united

Niether, see judges comments!

How many years was Coppell at Reading before he walked out on them? And how do you know Curbishley wouldnt come?

Coppell is the outstanding candidate. Sure there are question marks but that's true of any and all managers.

He built a promotion team at Palace and an outstanding promotion team at Reading. He can spot a bargain: Doyle, Sidwell and Hunt to name but four. He is thoughtful, dignified and articulate. He's seen it all and done it all.

Most importantly, he believes in real football.

He should be appointed tomorrow, if not sooner!

Blackwell OUT.

Curbishly knows how to get teams promoted and keep them there.

Coppell once the money has gone he cant handle it.

How awful it would be to win the league with over 100 points and to play the sort of football Coppell's Reading played.

Stop perpetuating myths. He's managed very effectively without money. How much did Doyle, Sidwell et al cost?

If he goes (and I'm not vindicating getting rid just yet) then Coppell, O'Driscoll or Darren Ferguson.

One season. Ask Citeh fans what they think. Coppell is a bottler, and can keep well away. One Doyle does not a great manager make.

So, do we go for the boring as a wood sandwich with a side order of sawdust offering that is Steve Coppell, a man believed to have been sued by ditchwater for being duller, or Alan Curbishley, who gets a nose bleed at any other club than Charlton or further north than junction 6 of the M1?

Blackwell is not going to get sacked any time soon. He's had an appalling run of luck with injuries and referees decisions. We were very unfortunate not to beat the league leaders last night. I expect Jamie Ward to make a big difference to the team when he returns, which could be as early as next weekend. I actually asked McCabe about Blackie yesterday as he was in the pub. He said that he admires Blackwell a lot, and indicated that he has no intention of changing our manager. He's a patient man. Look how long he gave Robson.

Blackwell got the tactics right last night. We dominated the game and lost to a cruel, lucky goal.

Of the two curbishley but he doesnt do northen clubs must be too cold for him

Well, precisely, but given that in this particular thread we only have a choice of two .....

Exactly. The choice between getting shagged by a randy rottweiler, or a blowjob off a crocodile. Either way there's going to be tears before bedtime, and probably blood too.

I've been following football long enough to form my own views thanks Hippy. I don't need to ask Citeh (sic) fans anything. I know good football when I see it and know a manager who can produce good teams. I named more than Doyle by the way. Please don't weaken your arguments by misrepresenting others'. It's disengenous and unattractive. You seem to have an agenda that has little to do with football. Coppell's overall managerial record is unquesionably very good. He would undoubtedly take our club to the Premiership. The buffoon presently in charge manifestly will not.

Who would you prefer - more hoofball from Mickey Adams? He is a Blade after all.

Coppell IN NOW!

Shorehamview - I can cope with dull all day long as opposed to Blackwell's passionate twaddle. It's the football that matters mate.

I'm not misrepresenting anything at all. Coppell is a bottler, plain and simple. He walked away from sodding Brentford complaining. All I did was counter the claim that he is a good manager by mentioning one of a litany of bottling he has done.

Paraphrasing a well known quote to emphasise this is hardly misrepresentation, old boy.

Citeh (a well used term for a certain Mancunian side) is a particular case in point by which to show that Coppell isn't fit to be in any manager's office, as indeed is Reading. He did very well for a year, then ran faster than Usain Bolt when he didn't.

Precisely the sort of 'boom and bust' manager we don't need. In any case, this is a hjighly subjective thread about two different managers. Personally (and as been intimated earlier), I wouldn't have either.

Don't take things to heart though, old chap.

I don't take disengenous nonsense to heart mate. You misrepresented my previous post. You mount no fresh arguments and continue to spout prejudice.

How did Reading get 106 points?

Did Sidwell, Doyle, Hunt, Sonko, Shorey, Kitson, Long fall out of a Christmas Cracker?

Talk sense pal. Maybe lay off the herb for a day or two?

Hardly disingenuous. Coppell spent fortunes (in wages) to get them up, and to be fair he did well. Given the wages pot.

I most certainly didn't misrepresent you. It would be interesting to see where you think I did.

Take a look at "yellow-belly's" general record. We do not want him here.

Fabulous joke but I think you've just created a double mixed metaphor. Help me out which is the rottweiller and which is the lucky one?

I used to like Curbishley, but since his comments of the Wet Sham thing i think he's a Crunte (minus the r and the e)

I'd stop going if Alan Curbishley was ever appointed manager of Sheffield United.

Funny I said that when Blackwell was appointed but ..............

For me it's Mr Coppell - was before the thread and still is.

As for those getting giddy about a piece of hypotheticals Jesus next we'll be arguing over whose the best Strictly Come Dancing judge (which of course is Bruno Tonioli).

Or "groan and grunt" as he's now effectionately known round the old The Boleyn pub having just taken a few "Alans" from his "favourite" football club - the cheating friggin Cockney Boys - by winning his constructive dismissal claim. Couldn't you just weep for the hard done to Curbishleys and Keegans of this mad football world we love so much!
