Cue meltdown

Signing someone who'd divide the dressing room is the last thing Wilder would do, he's way too smart for that. He'll know all about Evans' character and he'll at least have a very good idea how our current players would receive him. They'll talk to Evans about the case and realise what a shambolic injustice it was if they didn't know already. Our captain also knows him already.

Not the best of timing is it to bring up all this controversy after such a season of togetherness, however I do believe he'll start hitting the back of the net which will soon ease the minds.

Exactly!

Scores goals = no one gives a toss anymore.

I'm completely bewildered by this news. As Whitehawk said earlier, we don't deserve this after this season, especially this week. I'm not sure I support the idea of Ched coming back or not. But what I do know is that I didn't want to be immersed in another Ched related drama this week. THIS WEEK???!!!! FFS United, why oh why have you tainted our celebrations with this??? Unbelievably careless timing imo. We didn't deserve it.

It's really pissed me off. I don't have any moral objections but just the thought of going through all the tedious debates again has me wanting to chew my own hands off. Even more aggravating in a week that should see us focusing on our achievements this season.

I also just don't think he's very good. I remember watching him the last time he played for us in the Championship.

I've been proper contemplating this all day. ( I will admit he was quality in the season we SHOULD have gone up ) But Honestly don't think we should sign him. I didn't think Wilder would go any where near him even when the January rumours were going around. For me he wouldn't get infront of Billy , Lav , Leon or Hanson. I'd take him over McNulty but come on.... just think aswell the pigs paid 500k for Winnall and we're looking to pay the same for someone who's scored 5 league one goals this season. I want Danny Ward. Not Ched. Furthermore the PR he would bring back to the club is not needed . This isn't a Wilder decision . Its got McCabe written allover it

just after I'd forgiven the club for signing Marlon King. We don't even have the excuse of being desperate this time.

Glad I'm fucking off to New Zealand for a year next week. I'll be taking no interest in our season if this is true.
Going to a beautiful place Sheffdeparty.
Don't worry you're likely to be missing fuck all other than a life or death survival scrap at 35 quid a fucking ticket.
And a washed up Welsh never was limping around by a treatment table.
Enjoy your break.

At the end of the day, we're in the championship next season, would you rather have Ched on the bench as a back up striker or other options....Mcnulty, Done?

I know my thoughts.

This is a blades forum, the flaky wendy fans forum is that way≥>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

ridiculous post.

And there I was thinking that someone had lobbed a flare to add a bit of pyro atmosphere at The Crucible

Aren't you two a positive pair

there's a big chance this sort of signing could really upset seemingly the strongest team spirit we've had in years. There's no doubt Evans is now a divisive figure in football. Why bother with him?

His potential signing before his successful appeal was divisive, signing an innocent man shouldn't be - unless you think he should still be punished by never playing professional football again.

The argument that his signing would be "divisive" could be used by any club and any fans, but is just unmerited after his successful appeal.

Imagine if you were wrongly accused of rape, won on appeal but still couldn't get a job in your profession because all the companies you hoped to work for said "ah, he may be innocent, but employing him would be divisive"

It's a great price for a Championship quality striker.

Unfortunately it looks like the price we're paying for a 28 year-old average League 1 striker, with questionable fitness and only one year left on his contract.
I wasn`t too sure it was a good decision by Adkins to bring Billy back for a third spell. However, under the present management , he has proved to be an excellent addition to the squad. In his last season with us, Ched missed the first 6 weeks and the last month, yet scored 35 goals. He looked the perfect all round striker - right foot, left foot, heading, running, positioning, holding it up, strength, passing, composure. At 28 he hes not had the wear and tear of a 28 year old because of his time out of the game. If CW and AK can get out of him what they`ve managed to get out of other players this season, then we`ll have a bargain.

Agree he was pretty ordinary in the Championship but you must have stopped going then when we went down to league 1 then.

For his final 6 months of his contract with us he was ripping league 1 apart and turning us into a 1 man team.
Voted best player in league 1 and far far better than any of our current strikers, easily better than Sharp.
In fact one of the best strikers I've seen at the Lane since Deane and Agana.

The issue is that you just don't know - there's a big chance this sort of signing could really upset seemingly the strongest team spirit we've had in years. There's no doubt Evans is now a divisive figure in football. Why bother with him? He's not even proven in the league above! Ridiculous on almost every single level this deal.
On the other hand it could be a masterstroke we might have just got a striker worth £10m for less than 500k I think he was better than Rhodes in 2011-12 if it doesn't work out we haven't lost much. Some of the fans saying they don't now want to have their season tickets are way OTT, fuck em they are not proper Blades anyway fuck em and their mock outrage even Jean Hatchett don't seem that bothered. Just a shame that the news broke before the party on Sunday.

This meltdown has similar traits to the meltdown that occurred in August/September.

Remember the comments about CW and how it was a big mistake that we had signed a rookie manager and I told you so etc etc - look how that panned out

Let's not go down that route again please. Leave that for the infiltrators from the dark side

Just going to leave these here for the keyboard warriors getting their thongs in a twist over this and doubting the judgement of the greatest manager we've had this century who is about to deliver us 100 points and as got us playing the greatest football in my lifetime.
In Wilder we trust ⚔️

So you agree with the pigs propaganda I take it, Rhodes has done fuck all since leaving Blackburn

I think Ched evans will never be worth 10 million, that means bugger all about my agreement with any pigs or have anything to do with Rhodes.

I know my thoughts.

I'd rather have none of them

Well at least we had, what - about 2 weeks of feeling on top of the world.

Two weeks of genuine feel good factor before Sheffield United decided to divide the fan base with this bizarrely timed and unnecessary purchase.

When you think about it, how naive we have been thinking we could just unite and enjoy our selves for a few months with the usual misery or shitstorms.
