I heard of this last week from the same source that told me years ago that Cresswell would sign a new player-coach contract and Lowton would go to Villa but laughed my head off at him, so subtly put it on the rumours section on here seeing if anyone had heard more, but good heavens did not expect this.

There is no moral issue in resigning him IMO. There is a footballing and financial reasons which makes this highly questionable. The timing is very regrettable as it could overshadow our well merited season celebrations.

Tell ya what.....a fit and firing Ched Evans at £500K with a point to prove could be a fantastic piece of business...just look how much our porcine friends down the road have thrown about on strikers at this level.

I can't believe for a minute this has been sanctioned without Chris Wilders 100% consent....(see what I did there ;-) ) if he thinks he can get a tune out of Evans then both will get my complete backing.....it would be hailed as a stroke of genius if we are in the top 6 after 15 games with Evans leading the scoring charts.

Could be a bargain, could be a waste. I have always been behind Evans, but I only want him to sign if Wilder is fully behind it. If Ched got a good full proper preseason, he should be able to get back to required level of fitness. If he wants it enough, he would even do a pre preseason.

This. Absolutely. If Wilder sees the sense we should let it happen. Cheds conviction has been quashed so he is an innocent man. I didn't want him back because I didn't think we needed him but I'd trust Wilders judgement over my own with regards football. Regards ethics, isn't the bloke innocent so there is no ethical standpoint?

I'm shocked, but I'm more shocked at the reaction of some on here.

In Wilder we trust so happy he's got another chance, wouldn't surprise me if this was McCabe's work though he was really close with Evans until the whole "training with us" saga. Another one we let the press win and united lose, not this time though this clubs flying in the right direction
