Cue massive overreaction

Great result love being in the FA cup draw but would swap for more league points. I don't yet believe we have a great manager good in the cups but not great in the league, we set up not to lose league games and go out to win cup games that's why we do so well. Maybe Clough thinks a good cup might bring on a league run like last season, simply change how you approach league games nige you might be surprised.

I'd be quite confident going into the play off final under Clough. He really does need to let players express themselves more in league matches and play MCnuts!!

They are viewed as great players rightly because they are ,but at the moment are both young inexperienced and could easily fall away if managed badly. There is a fair bit of self sacrifice in this by Clough which is easily over looked in the clamour for points ,he is doing the same with Diego ,although the detractors and wankers like Brian the Blade will tell you he doesn't like them and they should go elsewhere. They are being let down by the poor contribution of some team mates who aren't stepping up and taking the pressure off them.

excellent post with a real insight into how to bring young players through .clough knows what he,s doing we have to trust him.

agreed boreman pity more blades cant see this its totally different in league one the players have to show more beleaf in themselves and show no fear.May be this cup win will take the shackles of the players as we dont play with the same beleafe in league games clough is blamed for negative tactics but in my opinion the players play with fear and clough is having difficulty lifting this if he can! we will romp this league.

Overreaction, overreaction? This is the worst team we have ever fielded, the worst manager we have ever had and without a doubt the worst squad that has ever graced the red and white shirt. The results are unacceptable, out continued presence in the piss poor league is unacceptable, the board and investors should be ashamed of there attempts to improve the fortunes of the club and the supdraw is a fix week in week out. The playing surface pays homage to our lowly position, the catering is pathetic with a beige fest of luke warm gristle infested soggy pastry, the stewards don't know what's going on, they can't move people blocking my view standing at the exits and if a disaster happened they would be half way up the Moor by the time we were told what was happening.

Apart from that the new ticket office is nice.

18 points behind the top two after half the season is a fookin disgrace in every way, shape or form. And the happy clappers will still be peddling their shit that we can make automatic promotion .......................... more chance of us having visitors from Mars

Automatic promotion chances died the other week but few of us wanted to admit it.

Seriously though, while accepting auto is by now a no no, promotion via the play offs having finished in 6th place and 20 points off top 2 is not.

Agreed. But given our form over the last 2 months, I'd snap the hands of someone offering us a playoff place right now. At the start of the season I ranked that option below crushing my bollocks in a vice.

Playoffs are miles away from certain.

Can't understand the optimism re the play offs at all - it's as though that is the fucking holy grail!

We are no better positioned this season than any other campaign for the play offs since the teams we might be playing (that's if we prevail over the mighty Rochdale or Chesterfield to fucking get into the top six come the end of the season) will be league 1 teams not Prem teams. That means our amazing cup exploits will count for fuck all as the teams we play (the canny managers amongst them) will not attack us but kick our lads and rough them up to the extent that our boys will well up with tears as the opposition bully a goal or two in reply to fuck all in the goals for column. Why the fuck are those crowing about winning the play offs so optimistic about it? It makes absolutely no logical sense at all.

Our record against the top 6 (in the top 6 places when we play them) is shocking this season, AGAIN. The only team we have done well against is Preston - and that's because Grayson got his tactics wrong and tried to attack us at Bramall Lane - if he had taken a leaf out of Robinson's book and been patient (to go with the strong arm, bullying tactics) Preston may well have got something out of the game last week - I bet it's a mistake that Grayson won't make again IF we come up against them in the play offs.

Every single time we get to a POF we lose it because we haven't got a fit striker or enough of a threat in front of goal. You win finals with a piece of brilliance or a bit of quality that tilts the balance (consider past finals with Palace & Hopkins - Burnley & Elliot - Hull & Windass - Rovrum & Ravell - QPR & Zamora). Well let's just be clear if the opposition negate Murphy then we have fuck all to worry them. We don't score enough goals and we don't work the goal keeper anywhere near enough against teams in our league. Our set plays are fucking dire and we are so vertically challenged that this will remain the case until we change the average height in the team - that's another avenue to score pretty much closed off to us.

This is why this JTW is so important to us and to be brutal about it the recent run of 1 win in 8 in the league is really detrimental to the recruitment campaign.
Forget the probable impracticality of paying over £1m for a right back - why the fuck would any Championship player want to drop down a division on a permanent transfer when they can see we are already 18 points off the automatic places and have screwed that pooch to fucking death? Why on earth would they want to play in Div 3 again next season? There is no logic whatsoever to the argument that we will be a success in the play offs this time around just because we are a decent cup team.
