I can live with your anti-Wislon stance because the table is making you look a bit silly everytime you pontificate on it but I cannot accept is the absolutely disgraceful abuse you gave the Cremorne in Ollie's thread about meeting up the other week. I kept quiet at the time because I hadn't been in for a few months but I had a Tetleys in their last night and it was perfectly acceptable/very nice. They sell Easy and Pale Rider so what exactly is your problem with this fantastic, local boozer? By all means slag Utd off but slagging local boozers I assume you haven't been in for a while is just an outrage.

I'll buy you some beer in there this season.

We drink in there most matches, the Tetleys cask is great and last night I had Pale Rider too. It's a nice little boozer.

Sorry mic the table is 3 games old and I haven't been anti Wilson since the season kicked off. Ill save that for the football threads.

As for the cremorne... True I haven't been in for a while, why? Well heres my little summary of the last few times over the past 2-3 seasons. Personally id prefer to drink there as it's Got more space outside, if you can tolerate the junkies supping tenants super while they wait for the chemist to dish out their methadone...

- no draft beer on tap, selling cans for same price with a pint glass.
- closed on several occasions
- time it takes to get served
- grunge decor
- ignorant bar staff
- crap snacks
- when I have been able to get a pint (bitter or lager) it's been poor

I'm sure the landlord has changed but the place always seems like it's on the verge of going bust. Do they still not have any football on?

Golden lion is a proper football pub. Fast flow taps, decent snacks, friendly bar staff and football on tv. Cremorne has always been a let down. And it seems that Northampton's finest ale is keeping you there now :)

Absolutely fine that you prefer Golden Lion (I would always prefer a pub with Sky before a match) but I think the comment was somat along lines of they don't look after the beer, which I think is an outrageous slur on a fine, traditional local boozer. I aint on about the vibe, the atmosphere before a football game - the issue was I believe the quality of the beer and I have never had a problem.

Do you honestly get a pint of beer/lager and go this is really poor compared with XYZ? Unless it is really flat etc I just struggle to tell the difference. I know there will be beer experts who can compare a Pale rider from one pub to another but I think you were exceptionally harsh on somat you should cherish even if you don't use it - namely a boozer on London Road.

My beer/ lager comparison is very primitive, having brewed my own home brew at uni (many years back) so i use this as my quality control. the beer in cremorne was poor, I normally drank lager there but I stopped and went onto bitter thinking that would be better, it wasn't. I can see your point about cherishing a pub, but when it was so shite, I can't see a reason to justify "cherishing" a shithole.

I couldn't tell you the price of a beer nowadays, it's all about the quality of the product and the cremorne, though better placed is/ was a poor pub. I'm prepared to pop in sometime and see if it's improved, but it'll only be on my way to the lion

The Cremorne used to be my choice of pre-match boozer, but around four years ago the landlord changed, and the last time I went in there I managed to hold my pint down for around three minutes before a trip to the loo for a stripy laugh was needed. Never again.

went in the scholar pre-gamed yesterday
the beer was warm-plastic and frankly-shit.
never again.

Fair enough.

I've been trying to work out how someone who says 'I don't think Wilson is the short term or the long term answer' can be anything but anti-Wilson but have failed miserably - obviously I haven't got the intellect to get my head round that one. Never mind, I'll enjoy the wins and you can have the 'damn, we've won' thoughts which I had when our Blackie was in charge.

THIS. End thread. ;op

The rare occasions I get up to Gods Own Land for a match, pre it's Bankers Draft, followed by The Huntsman, post it's Sheaf View which really is one of the finest pubs I've ever been in.

The Spoons thing is not really my choice as my mates are slightly obsessed with the places (they only go in them on away matches too, and tick off new ones along the lines of train spotters....).

I was stood at the bus stop outside the Cremorne after a match when the pub sign above the main door fell off and missed 6 people by about an inch!!
They've never put the sign back up.

I've said my piece on not wanting Wilson, but as he's here I have to put up with him :)

I don't like him and I think he WILL fail. It doesn't mean that I want him to fail. I'll pick the faults he has when I see them, just to say I told you so when we catalogue them together in his ultimate demise.

However, I am entirely happy when things go well and he's getting results like we've had so far.

I don't think it'll last, but as i've said, I am more than prepared to hold my hands up and say I was wrong (done it before)

The cremorne is still shit :)

All fair enough, but just finally on this I assume by 'fail' you mean failure to win promotion this season?

Despite being consistently crap the Cremornes attendances have been nothing short of magnificent, tap room and lounge. I think they deserve our deepest respect and adulation...

I quite like the Cremorne though not been in there for years. I think Swissblade has just given them an extra customer when I stop by next match day!

That'll double the customer base then :)

Can you also change a barrel?
