This is the season we were promised - a slow, uncertain start while we found our feet, building up to an unstoppable* momentum once we got going…

(* Other outcomes are available)

Decent point but I'm pretty confident we would NOT be getting these results under Slav.
Accept we would have had a better 2nd half under Slav but not to this extent and you can feel something is building inside the whole club.
There's now more of a unity which I don't think we could ever achieve under Slav.

Under the Slav the football was very good.....but it had similarities to when Robson first come....it was too slow.
Under Slav many of the players were passing just for the sake of passing, it was like possession is king, so very few players would take risks.

Heggie has speeded things up and has changed the mentality to get the players to relax and express themselves.
Sometimes it makes you wonder if language or tone of a voice made such a difference.
I stopped listening to Slav's pre and post match interviews because they bored me....so maybe the players had similar issues.

You would expect Heggie, Stuart McCall, Jack Lester to motivate and relax players much much better than Slav and his Spanish backroom staff.

Another point is the atmosphere within the club as a whole and amongst the fans.Maybe we're an insular bunch but its like we've got our club back.
Seems much more familiar, safe and comfortable being run by a bunch of local Yorkshire men who all know Sheff Utd inside out
compared to the playing side being run by outsiders from Serbia and Spain.

Can’t accept that the football under Slav was good. It was terrible. Really slow and boring passing the ball from side to side just to keep possession. The only exception was the Peterborough game when Ndaiye made his debut and he and MGW were sensational but that was a complete one off.

The atmosphere around the club has completely changed since we changed managers. Sacking Slav was the first time I started to have doubts about the Prince and where he was taking the club. It looks increasingly likely that his decision was actually the right one in the end.

Fair point....what I should have said is "the football was technically good" and showed early promise under Slav.
At times we played like a poor mans Man City always dominating the possession stats, the opposition didn't venture in our half much.

Personally I like seeing a controlled passing game instead of lumping into danger areas and seeing loads of goalmouth action.
My view is if we ever want to do anything at PL level then we need a team that is able to keep the ball.

but agree that (like when we had Robson) it was far too slow. The opposition were always given time to get men back and re-organise
whilst we would try (in vain) trying to walk the ball into the net. We made it look so hard trying to break down defences.

Under Slav were regularly looked far superior to the opposition but once that novelty wears off.....then results should be the measure.
The bottom line is results simply weren't good enough, so I can understand why he was sacked.

Do you not think this because of the results? l am sure if we were still near the bottom the atmosphere would be toxic.

The football under Slav was fkin awful. I admit I was also one that wanted him to be appointed last summer but the more I saw if Utd early in this season, the poor results, the seemingly lack of knowing what his best team was after what 19 games? And to top it off, the piss poor slow football, the more I realised that he was a mistake. I was genuinely delighted when we got rid of him and appointed Hecky. You can live with the results being poor if you can see progression with the football and how you are playing. I saw nothing and if the results are poor on top then Slav could have no complaints with getting the bullet.

I guessing the sarcasm in the OP didn’t come through 😂

He fucked up by appointing him and expecting him to pull rabbits where there was no hat and no actual rabbits to be found.
Prince fell lucky with Wilder and had Hobson’s with Hecky’s appointment.

Of course and I guess you need a bit of luck when it comes to sacking and appointing managers. I think I would be right in saying that at the end of last season, we didn’t want Hecky as manager. We wanted the best that was out there and we got him in Slav, at least we thought we did at the time, it just didn’t work out for whatever reason.
