My heart sank when I realised that Keith Stroud was in charge today, and I feared the worse.

That Brentford game a few years back was one of THE most pathetic officiating performances that I have ever seen in the flesh. Ever since then he has gone on to raise his profile with frequent gigs in the upper echelons of the game and each and every time I have seen him he has been poor. Proper small man, big whistle syndrome going on with this bloke. He even had a shit beard and goatee thing going on for a while which made him look even more ridiculous.

However....and I cannot quite believe that I am typing this...... but I thought he did quite well today. A few iffy decisions maybe but overall I thought he managed the game reasonably well.

Agreed, thought he had a decent game, expected him to give a freekick against Billy when their defender went down after the shoulder to shoulder action on McG's goal. But he let the game continue, correctly (and the Bolton defender didn't complain either)

He let quite a lot go, some good tackles going in and many Premier League refs would've blown up, but he let the game flow

I also thought that the ref was decent in the Leeds v Norwich game, some tackles flying in, though how Douglas didn't get booked when he kept fouling was a bit surprising.

I thought the ref gave us a lot of the 50/50s yesterday. I doubt Bolton fans will have approved.
