You forgot to mention that Kitson didn't win anything and looked disinterested, Cofie might as well have not been on the pitch and Long was at fault for two of the goals. Oh and we have no pace whatsoever. We have one speed and teams suss us out very quickly and then run at us.

Despite what many think of him Flynn was the only one who I thought deserved paying today.

I thought the same. Westlake and Hill were my villains, also their second big striker made life harder for Hill than Scunny did on Boxing Day. Cofie is no use whatsoever and left us playing with effectively one up front. They just played the conditions well and we never really go going apart from the first 3 and the last 20 mins of the first half. The lack of game changing options on the bench showed how thin the squad is.

Wilson's interview didn't confirm whether Maguire is out for Tuesday, is this confirmed?

look.. i know we're crap and we've debated our faults at great length but we've played worse than this today and 'won'.. i'm not disputing we were shit but they weren't barcelona as some are making out.. on another day with a bit of luck and the run of the ball we still could have won.. so after 'all that' i still thing we were mugged on a bad day.. we've been riding our luck at home for a while and we've had it coming.. i can't believe that people are so shocked

I didn't go, and I didn't hear a commentary but from the stats it seems as though Hartlepool tried to kick us off the park - and succeeded (4 yellow cards and far more fouls than we conceded).

Today was far worse than most weeks, but, we are still second in this very poor league
Hartlepool have not won for twenty games until today - it really shows that we are not that good!
But, these things happen
We have Wilson in charge for better or worse- I don't have a lot of faith in either his transfer dealings or his tactics but we are saddled with him
We are the biggest club in the division yet we are not capable of beating Hartlepool at home in front of nearly 20,000 - this is fact
If the bleatings of the chairman is to believed regarding FFP then we have the highest wage bill in the league - no other club have a turnover anywhere near ours!
Whilst today in context will not prevent us going up in the automatic places - the quality of the team, players, management, and chairman may be the restricting factors!

I think yesterdays result confirms we are not very good, all season we have had the apologies for poor performances backed up by the lines we are still unbeaten blah blah we are still in the top 2 blah blah, next it will be we are still top 6 or we are still in the top half of League One.
And it is a very piss poor League One we find ourselves stuck in for the foreseeable future .................. I say that because unless we bring in 2 or 3 good recruits this January there is no way we will maintain a top 2 spot, even a play off spot will be in doubt. The time is coming when we will be overtaken by the likes of Brentford, Swindon and little old Doncaster who have games in hand and the hard charging Bournemouth (30pts from 36 with Eddie Howe) only two wins behind us now, and don't rule out Coventry either.
Anybody here confident that we will bring in some quality next month when we have a owner with a ready made FFP excuse not to spend another penny on the team ?
Should the miracle happen does anyone here feel confident in Danny Wilson and his transfer dealings ?

McMahon - has been poor all season bar one match when he scored two screamers
Hill is a squad player at best - yet he is in week in week out
Westlake - has not shown any signs that he is likely to improve - very ordinary
Williams - complete waste of wages
Flynn - questionable - shows some signs but struggles on the basics
LJF - not good enough defensively
Porter - another waste of wages
Kitson - has shown glimpses of the player he used to be
McDonald - - lack consistancy - not the player he was last year
Blackman - raw talent - not the finished article
Howard - looked ok but has been injured for a long time so can't comment
Miller - Good Signing

Hill Ok as back up I suppose
McMahon Other than the last two games he has been a shockingly bad signing
Miller at £60k we took a chance on him and it paid off, very unfortunate to pick up a long term injury
Westlake A replacement for Lowton ? never been a full back, says it all when McMahon is preferred over him
Howard a keeper who has never made it even in Scotland where Lee Baxter would look good Long is a much better option
Williams simply useless
Flynn a scapegoat for many but he has more assists than anyone and chips in a few goals not our worse player by a long way
McDonald Ok if we have someone at his side to do the ugly bits
LJF he can't come back quick enough better than Hill or Williams even if he is no world beater
Porter just an average player even in this poor division not sure why we extended his contract maybe at the time we thought Cresswell was Scunny bound

Then there is Cofie the Man Ure starlet another duffer we have loaned from Man U in the M Twiss and A Notman mould expect his future to lie in the Blue Sq Bet Premier
Overall Dannys signings are about 50/50 in a range of half decent for this league to absolutely piss poor. Add to that the 3yr deals handed out to Doyle and Cresswell and it don't look too good does it.

Where on earth these droves of people have come from to criticise United I do not know. Probably the same place they came out to watch the boxing day game after keeping away mosy of the year. Posters that have barely posted before have suddenly appeared to slag off United. Wilson should be replaced by Hill/O'Driscoll, we are absolutely rubbish, McCabe needs to spend and la de fuckign da. The same fickle bunch were out after the Tranmere game shouting this and that. It was very quiet when United suddenly went top of the league. The another win at home to Scunny and more tumbleweed. Then a loss to bottom of the league and the world is ending. Posters like Mic and crew will have been rubbing their hands. Some of the over the top bollocks on here just makes me despair. What a bunch of fickle simpletons make up some of our fan base. No doubt these melodromatic numpties will be out in drones if we lose to Donny. I bet it will be like a morgue if United go to that plastic stadium and get a result mind.
