28,057. Really? I always thought that they had decent support, vocal and travel well but didn't have the numbers. But that's a decent turnout given their position, live on Sky etc. It sounded a good atmosphere but there were empty seats. Not sure of the capacity there.

They’re up there with the most fickle fans in the country. A few mid table seasons with no cup runs and they’ll be back to averaging 15k.

Their home support is propped up massively by a decent away allocation too.

I remember they brought about 300 odd fans to Bramall lane one season in league 1. Proper tinpot club.

Probably just counting people on database as attending, bit like our scruffy little neighbours do.

32k capacity

I was also surprised , but then a single club city and they took 45k to Wembley a couple of years ago for some tinpot cup I think

But no lasting effect from the years of playing at Northampton in front of 10k

Their owner announced a special ST deal.

The deal is:
If Coventry are promoted to the Premier league this season then all season ticket holders are entitled to a FREE season ticket in the Premier league.

They’ve been threatening a play-off promotion season for a while now and the prospect of a FREE season ticket has lead to record season ticket sales of nearly 23,000.

So even if you see loads of empty seats they are still guaranteed a decent gate as ST holders are automatically included in the figure even if they don’t attend.

Is their owner Mr Chansiri?

I was surprised by that as well.

Loads in the “singers corner” and a half decent atmosphere (even though they needed a drummer) for a few moments after they scored. Large patches of empty seats though, particularly behind the goal opposite to where we were sat.

I always wonder if SUFC undercook our attendance figures. When they announce 28/29k at the lane I have a look round and try to work out where they would fit an extra 3/4k.

I remember for years in the 90s our official attendances were way below the actual as turnstile operators were skimming off the top or letting people in for free.

Terrible atmosphere yesterday imo. They get nothing going without their drummer and he/she seemingly can’t be arsed most of the time. When they equalized 1-1 I thought their atmosphere would pick up, but after the goal celebration there was silence again

Nothing club

That seems to be the rule among most home crowds now though including our own. I was impressed by the atmosphere at Portsmouth. All sides of their ground join in. In a compact stadium it sounds impressive.

Back during those dark days you still felt robbed when you'd been let in for nowt 🤣

In those days with cash, it was also possible for clubs to underdeclare attendances and reduce their tax bill.

Surprised Wednesday aren't all over that.

Population of Coventry is 345000 in 2021.
About half of Sheffield so the attendance makes sense!

It's a 33,000 seater stadium. 5000 empty seats. Of course it's 28,000.

If only you had a drum, you may not stand in silence for 90 minutes every time we play you 😯😯

If there’s 25k st holders and we took 3k that means absolutely no home non st holders paying to get in !! Something doesn’t add up ??

They have a higher average home attendance than our massive neighbours 😲

Not bitter at all !
Me? I go home and away mate. Some you win, some you lose, some you draw with 10 men. Nothing to be bitter about. A draw away is always an OK result. I never let it bother me, it's supposed to be a fun hobby

I'm just surprised by the awful atmosphere. As an away fan, you want the home atmosphere to be good so you both get banter going back and forth. There was next to nothing.

But as long as you're all happy with it and keep buying season tickets on the promise of free premier league tickets, I guess your owner will be laughing. See you in March (if you actually go to games)

All those poor season ticket holders yesterday, hoping for their free premier league season ticket one day 🤣

Why's your corporate virtually empty (that second tier )no drummer up there or is Coventry a business ghost town as the specials would say
