Coutts Tackle

I certainly haven’t heard Couttsy say that. If I could be directed to the source I’ll listen.

dannysufc_ is your man, he’ll point you in the right direction. I’d do so myself, but I’ve never heard it either?

I’m sorry this is keeping you awake, by the way Pinchy :)

Of course it did ! In the same way that somebody sticks a leg out to trip you up, their leg is static the other leg is moving by that measure the person moving is at fault. But they aren't. Just you're one of those people who either 'doesn't get it', in which case I'm sorry for trying to teach you something beyond your understanding or you're one of those people who won't change your mind irrespective of the evidence placed before you.
your flogging a theory that has no gravitas
Ill say it again Coutts says it was a freak accident

which bit of that avoids entering your thought processes

Except Duffy didn't do the exact same thing?

Neither you or dannysufc_ get it, because presumably you've never played the game.

I assure you, if you'd played adult Football for any length of time, you know exactly what I'm talking about and would have seen it done on more than one occasion :(

But as you say, let's let it go

Ah the old bet you haven't played the game line. Well yes I have both as a youngster and an adult.

I'm also extremely confident that if Coutts had walked away with no ill effects from that incident no-one on here would have even mentioned the challenge.

I say it was a sending off. However, assuming it was an accident, it would be nice to have heard an expression of sympathy from the Burton player, whether at fault or not. He’s a cunt.

Are we sure he hasn't? Do we know he hasn't contacted PC privately?

Not sure why he needs to make a public statement, especially considering he didn't deliberately do him so doesn't need to show remorse.

That was never going to happen though, which is kind off my point

If Sordell had held a concrete lintel, eight inches above the ball (implausible I know) and waited for the inevitable follow through impact, that too would be no ones fault then, just a contact sport accidental injury?

Sordell locked his leg out, his foot was eight inches above the ball and his boot angled at 90 degrees to Coutts shin. No way was it an attempt to block the shot, it wasn't accidental, footballers are not so uncoordinated to accidently miss the ball by such margins. (It's how they manage to kick the ball with such consistency, instead of taking an air shot and falling on their arse.)

Don't get me wrong, had Sordell bent his leg then I wouldn't have an such issue with it.

Next time you're playing football, stand with your leg locked straight, foot on top of the ball and invite someone to kick it towards you and see what happens!

Anyway this has been done to death, we don't agree, I'm happy to leave it at that tbh

I understand what Coutts says, he is saying Sordell didn't intend to snap his leg, this does not mean it wasn't dangerous because he's been severely injured because of it.
Look at it this way; repeat the actions, would you expect an injury? I would (of differing degrees perhaps) every time.
Now you can keep denying it was dangerous but clearly the results support my argument.

see those half turn blocks every game , with a dangling leg , see a broken leg every 2 or 3 years
normally worst thing from them is a stubbed toe

Give me the source data for this and I'll probably agree with you.

This arguement is turning a bit silly. I kind of agree with what both sides are saying.

Disagree that you regularly see exact replicas of the Sordell high straight leg studs showing block
However you do see things similiar ish stuff to what Sordell did and there’s rarely any injury.

There can be a small dividing line between what’s a red card dangerous play and what’s more acceptable and just a freak accident.

I often think players on the scene at the game have a better idea than us watching in on tv or in the stands.
It seems none of our players thought it was dangerous at the time, no one challenged/ crowed Sordell and no players or managers have even hinted at anything malicious since.

I think Sordell got away with it because he turned his back and it was more about Coutts kicking Sordell than the other way round.
In fact Wilder said, if Coutts was a bottler then he’d have never made that challenge but he was fully committed and
Any players that are fully committed are more prone to picking up injuries.

It was a bit naughty to block like that I agree
But it’s a bit like saying Gary Madine should be sent off EVERY match.
At the Lane the other week did anyone notice that every time Madine jumped he had both elbows well out to make himself bigger and harder to mark tightly. Basically every time he jumped up a foul was given, usually against him but sometimes he’d win a foul.
My point is if Madine is deliberately sticking his elbows out when jumping then one day a defender will run into his elbow and might suffer a serious injury. If a player ran into his elbow would he be sent off, probably no, it would be classed as a self inflicted accident.
Although elbow incidents have more of a stigma, so he could well be sent off.

totally agree with the above

not one of our team harangued Sordell at the time
or post match , WILDER never said hang him out to dry

would have been a reaction if it was maliscious

Dreadful tackle by Bennett on Sane in the Cardiff-Citeh game earlier.

Eventually got sent off - but only for a second yellow (meaning just a one-match ban rather than the three he deserves?).

Definite straight red but I think the officials might have thought it was just a deliberate trip, which it looked on the tv.
Looked at again it was a horrible challenge and I don't understand why they have the rule about if the ref's given a yellow card it can't be reconsidered afterwards.
