Could Palace cope with Sharp , McBurnie and Robinson ?

Much has been made of the potential threat of Zaha and Townsend in our upcoming match and , to some extent , rightly so since I have great respect for the abilities of both these players .

Nevertheless , I also have great respect for the abilities of our back 3 who , supplemented by Norwood's protection , dealt very comfortably at Bournemouth with an equally potent attacking force of Wilson , King and the little shithouse known as Ryan Fraser .

It goes without saying that if we are to succeed this season , then it's matches like these that we should be looking to win and , in order to do that , we will need to play in the style that has got us to where we are and with the players most likely to be successful in that method of playing .

There can be no question that we have always been at our best when we have played two up front with a creative attacking midfielder in behind and I am totally confident that Billy and Oli McB , with Robinson playing the number 10 role , represent the best combination we've ever had in this respect .

I'm not at all confident that we will start with this formation but , if we were to do so , I firmly believe that Palace would have much more to worry about in respect of our attacking formation than we would about theirs .

I doubt we would play as a flat three up top, only one who can drop into AM is Robinson. However prefer him a bit wider cutting in if he's not an out an out striker.

So if we are playing 3 attackers it would likely include Mcgoldrick playing in AM or otherwise Ravs.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he DOES give Sharp a start....reward for scoring last week when he only played 10 minutes.
Also I do expect Luke Freeman to start...see if he can play that number 10 Duffy role.

I’ll also be interested to see if Ravel Morrison wins a spot on the bench and if we’re leading by 2 goals or losing by a goal then will Wilder bring him on near the end.

If the personnel is Sharp Dids and Robbo, it’s Dids in the 10. Although it would be very fluid and as I’ve previously said, would be a line up I’d certainly favour starting if we are to sacrifice a CM (Lunny presumably).

The surprising thing for me is Robinson isn't actually that quick, however he's technically and positionally excellent. A combination of Robinson/ McGoldrick must be a nightmare to play against as they never hold a position.

I think there's only a couple of spots that Wilder will have in question and that's Lundstram and McGoldrick. And it's not because either of them did anything wrong last week, rather I expect us to have gained enough confidence to be more attacking and an attacking midfielder is likely, and with an extra week with the squad McBurnie may well have settled enough to get a start.

FWIW I think it will be same as Saturday but Freeman for Lunny….Ravel on the bench, although he might be tempted to go with McB and Robbo with Didzy for Lunny.

Either way I don't think Lunny starts, not that he doesn't deserve to, just think we will be more attacking at home. Sharp wont start either, impact sub!

When everything settles down I can see Besic and Ravel really pushing Fleck & Norwood.....we will also settle on a preferred front 2, probably McB & Robbo with one of those two dropping to the bench away from home for an extra midfielder, (Lunny?).

Yes, we'll see. Duffy's range of passing isn't his main asset anyway. Robinson's link up play and awareness is excellent.

Duffy was great at drifting out to either flank and getting on the ball a lot. Robinson is a natural at doing that. He receives the ball very well and can quickly turn in any direction. Good end product, two footed, not greedy and has that burst of pace to beat defenders. All the attributes are there.

I'm certain they'll be coaching his ability to play that role because with experience he could be sensational there.
